NAKACHINDA JAILED FOR 18 MONTHS FOR DEFAMING PRESIDENT HICHILEMA

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) secretary general, Raphael Nakacinda has been sentenced to 18 months imprisonment with hard labor for defaming President Hakainde Hichilema.

In this matter, Mr Raphael Nakacinda, aged 43, of farm number 1794, Kafue district pleaded not guilty to defaming President Hichilema contrary to section 69 of the penal code chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.

In rendering judgment, Senior magistrate Irene Wishimanga found him guilty and convicted him accordingly.

Nakacinda on December 13, 2021 in Lusaka, with intent to bring the name of Mr Hichilema into hatred, ridicule and contempt, published defamatory matter by word of mouth, where he addressed people at the High Court of Zambia, which was also broadcasted by named Private Television that " His Excellency President Mr Hakainde Hichilema had begun to summon Judges at his private residence , intimidating and coercing them to frustrate PF legal
battles."

POLICE REACT TO FORMER PRESIDENT LUNGU'S "'walk in Capital Town Pampanga'"

The Zambia Police Service writes...

May 9,2024-Today, we observed a concerning incident involving Former President Edgar Lungu, who led a group of individuals from Town Centre around 11:30 hours into Cairo Road, causing significant disruptions to traffic. We want to emphasize that such actions constitute an unlawful assembly, and regardless of one's former status as a head of state, adherence to the law is non-negotiable.

We hereby caution Former President Lungu that no one is above the law, and the police will not hesitate to enforce it. Engaging in activities that disrupt public order and safety will not be tolerated, and those who act with impunity will face legal consequences.

We urge Former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu to conduct himself within the confines of the law and to refrain from actions that disrupt public peace and order. Failure to comply will result in the necessary legal actions being taken.

VERY SENSITIVE IMAGES MAY CONTAIN DEAD BODIES VIEWERS DISCRETION ADVISED: Four people have died, while 73 others have sustained injuries in a road traffic accident at Mano area along Mansa -Chipili road in Luapula Province. Police Deputy Spokesperson, DANNY MWALE says the light truck driven by MUBANGA KAPYA was carrying 103 passengers all members of the Anglican church who were going for a burial for their Reverend father. Mr MWALE says the other vehicle involved was being driven by PRUDENCE MUKUWA 43 years of Ministers compound in Mansa who together with other four passengers escaped unhurt. He says third vehicle was being driven by JIMMY MUSONDA 43 years of Mumbwa Central Province who escaped unhurt together with the passengers on board. Mr MWALE told ZNBC News that three passengers on a truck sustained fatal injuries and died on the spot while the fourth one died later at Mansa general hospital. He said that 24 passengers seriously injured are not yet identified, while 26 casualties sustained slight injuries and were treated and discharged. 73 passengers have been admitted to Mansa General hospital, with two vehicles extensively damaged.
