I deleted Threads and TikTok from my social media diet. Here’s why, and why it will continue.

1. Simplification. Too many nets for one fisherman to throw means no fish get caught. I want to build something storytellers, story lovers, and their families gravitate to. Can’t do that when I’m darting between the nets.

2. Habitual. Too much of a good thing is bad. But what about too much of a bad thing? It’s so easy to get sucked into the scroll of doom. Any cognizant thought goes out the window as the dopamine cycle is nurtured into a dim-witted drawl. Best to cut it off cold turkey.

3. Conscience. Bots and trends targeting children and sewing infidelity are not the way I imagined these apps would be serving me, or anyone. If you need me for a signature calling out big tech for taking advantage of their own dopamine cycle manipulation and coding of children and families, I’ll be right here.

4. Vision. I’m not here to consume content. I’m here to create it, create the kind of content my kids can be proud of no matter what stage, or age of life they may find themselves.

When I craft stories, I like to use the short, punchy plot beats from my game design. Then I can flesh them out with more detail in my long form narratives and podcasts. I’ve got a summary of these steps on the last slide. Enjoy!

Currently considering switching platforms for my content.

That content features my processes in:
- narrative design
- world building
- and voice acting design

I’ll do this in three ways:
- short, viral videos to demonstrate voices
- longer videos for practical insight in storycraft, and character voices
- and a semi-monthly podcast on Spotify and Apple to tell stories with other creatives, using all THREE content to my advantage.

I’d focus mostly on YouTube for those videos. I hope you and others could share this with anyone who enjoys reading series like LOTR or The Stormlight Archive, or enjoys audiobooks. Heck, if you’re curious about D&D, this podcast can bridge the gap for you, too!

Day 2.
We found some small ruins accessible in a public park. It felt deeply spiritual to stack a small pile of rocks in a humble corner on top of the ruins. This practice is connected to the ideal of the mortal raising the earth higher to heaven. There was a profound quiet, both in the grove, and in my mind.

We’ll be here for another night after tonight. Stay tuned for my highlights, including the FOOD.

Dinner to celebrate another solar revolution. Dr. Pepper Steak Marinade base with lemon squeezed asparagus and garlic, with Sam’s Club Mac and cheese and bacon slices to taste. (Most of mine went down the hatch before they went to my Mac or steak…)

Since we can’t celebrate for a whole day because work is a deadly laser, we celebrated for a whole week in smaller mini-moments. (or HBW as the case may be) to my sweetheart, my external companion, my best friend, and the tallest drink of water I ever dun found.
