China has organized a short video competition themed "Tens of Thousands of People Talk About Xinjiang" this year again to cover up the genocide in East Turkistan.

According to news from the so-called "Xinjiang Radio and Television Station" on February 12, the 4th "Tens of Thousands of People Talk About Xinjiang" short video competition has begun accepting submissions and will continue until April 30.

The related announcement indicated that there are no restrictions on the style and format of short videos, but they must effectively present positive content about various topics such as economic development, tourism, history, and other aspects of the so-called "Uyghur Autonomous Region." After evaluation, 180 short videos will be awarded prizes across different categories.

The phrase "short video submissions are accepted from around the world" in the announcement is noteworthy. It's not difficult to see that China is encouraging foreign internet celebrities who collaborate with China, overseas Chinese, and a small number of Uyghurs to participate in this false propaganda campaign.

This propaganda activity under the name of "competition" has been held annually since 2021 and is being used to cover up and beautify China's genocide crimes in East Turkistan.

China has revised the so-called "Xinjiang Autonomous Region State Common Language Level Test Management System," one of the legal covers for its genocide in East Turkistan. This revision of the management system indicates an intensification of suppression, assimilation, and language restriction policies in East Turkistan.

The so-called "Uyghur Autonomous Region" Education Department's website announced its explanation of the "State Common Language Level Test Management System" on February 12.

The website explained the background of the system's revision, noting that in 2021, the "Autonomous Region" Education Department had established the system based on the Ministry of Education's 2003 "State Common Language Level Test Management Regulations" (Order No. 16). In January 2022, the Ministry of Education revised these regulations (Order No. 51), invalidating the previous version, claiming the old management system no longer met new era requirements.

Among the revised content regarding management mechanisms and work responsibilities, it states that the State Council's Language Work Department will manage nationwide tests, while the "Autonomous Region" Education Department will manage regional tests and annually evaluate test centers. Implementation measures include online training, testing sites at various levels, and promotional activities.

This year's revised management system has strengthened requirements and implementation measures for Chinese language learning compared to the 2021 version. The first article of the 2021 system stated it was "established to standardize state common language level test management and promote the use of the state common language." However, this year's version states it is "established to further strengthen the management of state common language level testing and further standardize testing rules for state common language use in our region."

The new management system consists of 10 chapters and 77 articles, addressing the strengthening of Chinese language promotion and accountability measures for violators.

Samoa government condemns Chinese hacking group for cyberattacks on state institutions.

The Australian ABC network reported on February 12 that the Samoan government has accused the Chinese regime-backed APT40 hacking group of launching cyberattacks on its government and critical infrastructure.

It is reported that this is the first time a Pacific nation has accused a hacking group affiliated with the Chinese regime of cyberespionage, and the Samoan government has stressed that the Chinese Communist Party-backed APT40 group is a serious threat.

Australian officials praised the Samoan government's warning as an important step in strengthening cyber defenses in the Pacific and encouraged other countries to share their experiences in cyberattacks. However, the Chinese regime has denied involvement in the cyberattacks.

The Egyptian government told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Arab countries rejected Trump's Gaza plan.

The Asian section of the Japanese newspaper Konami reported on February 11 that Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdullah told US Secretary of State Marco Rubio that Arab countries rejected President Donald Trump's plan to expel Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.

At a meeting in Washington, Badr Abdullah stressed the need to rebuild Gaza on the condition that Palestinians remain in the territory. The US State Department stressed the importance of Gaza governance and security cooperation.

Marco Rubio stressed that Hamas should not govern Gaza or pose a threat to Israel. Badr Abdullah also expressed his desire to cooperate with the new US administration to bring peace to the region.

It is reported that Trump's proposal for Egypt and Jordan to accept Palestinians has met with strong opposition from the Palestinian leadership and neighboring Arab countries. It is said that Trump's plan raises concerns of ethnic cleansing.

It is known that as a result of the war that began in October 2023, Israeli military action has caused severe casualties and displacement of the people of the Gaza Strip.

The report outlines the extent to which ILO Member States have fulfilled their obligations in relation to international labour standards, including those they have voluntarily ratified.

On 10 February 2025, the Committee of Experts on the Application of Conventions and Recommendations (CEACR), which is a cornerstone of the ILO's supervisory system on international labour standards, published its annual report.

The report provides an independent expert analysis of the extent to which each ILO Member State’s law and practice give effect to ratified ILO Conventions and Protocols. It outlines how Member States are fulfilling the obligations they have freely undertaken under the ILO Constitution in relation to international labour standards. It also provides a brief account of its interactive exchange with the Chairs of the UN bodies monitoring international human rights treaties and Special Procedures Mandate holders to mark the 80th anniversary of the ILO Declaration of Philadelphia and the 60th anniversary of the Employment Policy Convention, 1964 (No. 122) and Recommendation (No. 122).

International labour standards, which are  encapsulated in Conventions, Protocols to Conventions, and Recommendations, are universal instruments of international law adopted by governments, employers and workers represented at the international labour Conference to advance social justice. They reflect common values and principles governing the world of work. Once a country has ratified an ILO Convention or Protocol, it is obliged to report regularly on the measures it has taken to implement it.

While ILO Member States can choose whether or not to ratify an ILO Convention or Protocol, the ILO supervisory system also regularly surveys the effect given to Recommendations and Conventions where they have not been ratified. At the end of February 2025, the Committee of Experts will publish such a General Survey entitled Achieving comprehensive employment injury protection.

The Chinese regime has called on the Dalai Lama to submit to China and return to what it calls the "correct path," while the Tibetan government-in-exile has rejected China's conditions.

According to Voice of America on February 10, the Chinese regime announced it is open to discussing the future of Tibet's spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, but the Nobel Peace Prize winner must meet certain conditions and return to what they call the "correct path" and abandon the so-called position of "splitting the motherland." However, Tibetan government-in-exile officials immediately rejected this proposal.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun repeated these statements at a press conference held on February 10. His remarks came in response to journalists' questions about the death of former Tibetan government-in-exile president Gyalo Thondup at his home in India's West Bengal state on February 8.

Gyalo Thondup, who died at age 97, had previously conducted numerous dialogues and talks with the Chinese regime as an unofficial special representative of the Dalai Lama, and also met with former Chinese President Deng Xiaoping. He played a key role in promoting strong support for the Tibetan cause from countries like the United States and India.

It's worth noting that the Dalai Lama, who will turn 90 in July this year, fled to India and established the Tibetan government-in-exile in the Indian city of Dharamsala after the failed uprising of the Tibetan people against the Chinese regime in 1959. The Dalai Lama has repeatedly expressed his desire to return to Tibet in his later life.

China summoned the Japanese ambassador to the Foreign Ministry and presented a protest.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry website on February 10, Liu Jinsong, head of the Asian Affairs Department at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, met with the Japanese ambassador to China and expressed protest over the anti-China content in the recent US-Japan joint statement issued during talks between Japanese and American leaders.

According to reports, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated in his statement the same day that China strongly opposes Japan's and the United States' statements regarding China and firmly stands against both parties' positions.

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba visited Washington last week and held his first high-level meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House on Friday. In the joint statement issued after the meeting, both parties expressed their firm opposition to China's attempts to change the status quo in the East China Sea and opposed China's illegal sovereignty claims in the South China Sea, its military activities, and acts of threats and provocation. The leaders also emphasized the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and their support for Taiwan's participation in international organizations.

Dozens of Maoist extremists were killed by Indian security forces in central India.

According to CNN, at least 31 Maoist extremists were killed in violent clashes on February 9 in India's Chhattisgarh state, and two police officers were killed during the operation. This incident is considered the most serious clash in India this year.

Police and armed forces began an operation in the forested area after receiving intelligence about a gathering of Maoist extremists. When security forces searched the area, clashes broke out, resulting in casualties among both extremists and law enforcement. Two police officers were injured in the armed confrontation. The operation is still ongoing, and weapons and ammunition have been seized. This incident occurred a month after another major clash that resulted in 16 Maoist casualties.

According to available information, the Maoist extremist movement emerged in 1967 as a result of poor local communities' demands in central and northern India for job opportunities and natural resources. They drew inspiration from Mao Zedong's violent and bloody policies and have continued acts of violence against the government army and infrastructure for a long period.

While marriage rates in China have fallen to their lowest levels, the divorce rate continues to rise.

According to CNN on February 10, the number of marriages in China in 2024 fell to a historic low, with only 6.1 million marriages registered. This represents a 20.5% decrease compared to the previous year. This decline represents a continuing trend over 10 years, leading to significant pressure on the Chinese economy due to a declining workforce and population aging.

It was reported that despite the Chinese regime implementing measures such as economic incentives and propaganda to encourage marriage and childbirth to alleviate these pressures, rising living costs, unemployment, and changing attitudes toward marriage have led to increased cases of delayed or avoided marriages among young people.

The Chinese Ministry of Civil Affairs announced second quarter data for 2024 on August 2 last year. It showed that 3.43 million people registered for marriage in the first half of last year, down 12.7% from the same period. The number of married people in China has declined for five consecutive years since 2019.

The Chinese regime has changed its birth control policy to solve the population crisis, raising the child limit from one to three. It has also implemented various measures to encourage early marriage and more childbirth, such as cash rewards for early marriage, birth allowances, and extended maternity leave. However, these measures have not succeeded in changing China's population decline trend.

However, while China attempts to increase its population, it continues to commit genocide crimes in East Turkistan, including forced sterilization of Uyghur women and forced abortions.

The Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) indicated in a report published in 2021 that China's genocide crimes in East Turkistan led to an unprecedented decline in birth rates, dropping by 48.74% in just two years from 2017 to 2019, a rate exceeding population declines during the Syrian civil war or the genocides in Rwanda and Cambodia.

The Korean intelligence agency revealed that the Chinese artificial intelligence platform DeepSeek has collected an excessive amount of personal data of users.

According to Nikkei Asia on February 10, the Korean National Security Agency is concerned about the excessive collection of personal data by the Chinese artificial intelligence platform DeepSeek, as the transfer of conversation records and the collection of input data pose security risks.

Some parts of the Korean government have banned the use of artificial intelligence platforms, and Australia and Taiwan have taken similar measures. The Korean National Security Agency also accused DeepSeek of providing different answers to sensitive issues depending on the language used and examining political questions.

China's Foreign Ministry has routinely denied such practices, citing the importance of privacy and personal data security.

The contract is responsible for the propaganda department in East Turkistan, especially the community, where they specifically emphasized the plan to continue the false propaganda from multiple points, including about the embellishment of the crimes of genocide and the suppression of it.

According to the website of Tengri Mountain Publicity, the head of the propaganda department in the so-called "Uyghur Autonomous Region" held a meeting on February 7 with Mr. Ma Xingroy, Secretary of the Committee of the Communist Party of China in East Turkistan, and the Chairman of the Financial Secretary of China, Erkin Toniaz. The meeting pointed to the continuation of the crimes of genocide this year as well.

According to reports, the meeting was attended by officials of the party's propaganda departments in various states, regions, and cities in East Turkistan and related officials. Also, the establishment of sub-meeting sites in various parts of East Turkistan.

During the meeting, Ma Xingroy pointed to the strengthening of the concealment of the ongoing genocide crimes in East Turkistan from the international community, saying, "It is necessary to establish a system of discourse and effective means from multiple points to show the commonality of Chinese culture and historical facts for integration, exchange, and integration between different nationalities."

In a speech during the meeting, official agent Erkin Tonyaz said, "We must deeply nourish Xinjiang with culture, work well to guide public opinion, and create a common moral space for the Chinese nation."

At the end of the meeting, Wang Jianxin, head of the propaganda department in the so-called "Uyghur Self-Government Region," emphasized such phrases as "We must manage the initiative battle in foreign propaganda and the media conflict related to Xinjiang well, protect the security of the ideological field firmly, and strive to create a new situation in the practice of propaganda, thought, and culture in Xinjiang," referring to the intensification of the false propaganda campaign directed abroad.

Canada Reveals Chinese Interference in Internal Affairs
A Canadian government agency responsible for monitoring foreign interference announced on February 7 that it discovered planned and malicious operations targeting Chrystia Freeland, the Liberal Party's federal candidate for prime minister.
According to the American News Agency, this interference operation is linked to an anonymous news account with Chinese support. Canada's Rapid Response Mechanism discovered that over 30 social media accounts participated in this operation in a coordinated manner.
Chrystia Freeland, one of the candidates to succeed Justin Trudeau, stated that she will not fear foreign interference attempts or deliberate attempts to damage her image.
The report mentioned that Freeland, after resigning from her position as Finance Minister in December, urged Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to resign from party leadership. A new Canadian prime minister is scheduled to be elected on March 9.

China’s planned Medog Dam in Tibet has raised concerns among neighbors.

China’s latest infrastructure project, which is set to become the world’s largest hydroelectric dam, is located on the Tibet-Qinghai Plateau, which borders India, the New York Times reported on February 7.

China says the Medog power plant in Tibet is crucial to meeting its clean energy goals and is a way to boost the economy and create jobs. But the project has raised concerns among environmentalists and neighbors, partly because China has released little information about the project.

The dam is located in an earthquake-prone area, and the Yarlung Zangbo River in Tibet, where the dam is being built, is called the Brahmaputra River when it flows into India. When it flows into Bangladesh, it is called the Jamuna River. The dam, which China plans to build, has raised concerns about water security in these countries.

It is reported that China announced in late December last year that it had approved the construction of the Medog Dam on the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River. However, it did not disclose details such as the cost of the project, the source of financing, which companies would participate in the construction project and the number of people to be relocated to the area. The dam is located in Medog County in the Tibetan region and will be built in a steep valley.

Here, the river flows in a meandering stream, called a grand meander. The river flows down 2,000 meters for about 48 kilometers. According to the 2020 estimate of the Chinese Communist Party-owned Electric Power Construction Group, the power plant will be able to generate 300 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year using the energy of the current. This is three times the power output of the Sanxia Dam.

China did not disclose which company is building the dam, but some analysts said that China Electric Power Construction Group, China’s largest power infrastructure developer, is likely to be involved. The company did not respond to reporters’ questions.

08/02/2025

China’s strategic priorities in post-Assad Syria include neutralizing the threat posed by fighters of the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP), preventing the spillover of instability into neighboring countries – especially Iraq and nations in Central and South Asia – and securing access for Chinese companies to strategic investment opportunities in Syria’s reconstruction process.
Beijing’s future role in Syria is closely tied to the country’s stability. China is keen to cooperate with Turkiye to tackle the Uyghur issue in Syria, take part in reconstruction efforts and activate the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) agreement signed between China and Syria.
China may attempt to replicate its approach toward the Taliban in Afghanistan when dealing with Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS). Beijing is likely to start by assessing Damascus’ stance before establishing institutional ties centered on mitigating threats to China’s interests originating from Syria. In exchange, the new administration in Damascus would gain China’s economic and diplomatic support.

China's Relationship with Syria: From Investment to Security Concerns
China's engagement with Syria began primarily as an economic venture, with major investments through companies like Sinopec and CNPC in the late 2000s. However, following the 2011 Syrian revolution, economic ties deteriorated significantly, with trade dropping from $2 billion to $541 million by 2022.
After Assad's fall, China maintained its traditional non-interference stance, advocating for a "Syrian-led, Syrian-owned" peace process. Beijing's immediate priorities shifted to:

Protecting Chinese nationals and interests in Syria
Preventing Syria from becoming a base for anti-Chinese militant groups
Securing opportunities for reconstruction projects under the Belt and Road Initiative

Holocaust Memorial Omission
Writer attended 80th anniversary in London
Notes absence of any mention of ongoing Uyghur genocide

Evidence of Genocide Against Uyghurs
Documented through Xinjiang Papers
Mass internment and surveillance
Forced sterilization and cultural erasure
Child separation
Torture and sexual violence
Leaked footage and photographs

UK's Problematic Involvement
Universities collaborating with BGI Group (involved in DNA collection)
Widespread use of Hikvision cameras (used in surveillance of camps)
Continued import of goods linked to forced labor
Economic relationships maintained despite evidence

Specific Examples:
Tursunay Ziyawudun's testimony of torture and r**e
16 UK universities linked to BGI Group
Edinburgh and Exeter universities' weak responses
Limited removal of Hikvision cameras from government sites
Continued import of cotton, food products, and solar panels

While the UK commemorates past genocides, it simultaneously maintains economic ties with entities complicit in an ongoing genocide, highlighting a significant moral contradiction in British policy.

Historical Parallel
Holocaust survivors' warnings about complacency
The danger of indifference being repeated with Uyghurs

UK Government's Failure
Lack of acknowledgment of the Uyghur genocide
Omission during Holocaust Memorial Day
Looking away from current atrocities

Nature of the Current Crisis
Described as a "high-tech genocide"
Targeting based on religion, culture, and identity
Occurring in real-time
International community's silence

Call to Action:
Need to move beyond empty promises
UK must:
Hold Chinese government accountable
End complicity in these crimes
Demand justice for Uyghurs
