I have been wanting to share this story for some time.
https://anchor.fm/burntoutinbudapest/episodes/Close-Encounters-in-Cotati-epcbv2

In the first new episode for quite some time (I hope there will be more soon) I tell a story that I have been wanting to tell the world for a very long time, something that I experienced almost twenty years ago in the a small Northern California town called Cotati. If you like the story I share here...

I promise the show will be coming back soon. I woke up this morning and this is what came out. Full episodes will come soon, but until then, I might do a series of little improves like this one. :) Enjoy. https://anchor.fm/burntoutinbudapest/episodes/Learn-from-the-Dogs-A-Public-Service-Announcement-emgfv6

The show has been on hold over the past few months, as I've been dealing with some life challenges, a busy work schedule, and many other issues of daily life. However, I do plan to come back on a more regular basis. After a long while away, I woke up in the morning and decided to just put up a short...

In this episode I had a delightful and wide-ranging discussion with Canadian expat Heather Keagan. She teaches English as a foreign language to people of all ages here in Budapest. She's also passionate about mental health and has a great sense of humor. We get into everything from how Budapest has changed over the years, to the strange toilets we have here.

We also talk at length about teaching English as a native speaker in foreign countries, which is likely useful for folks who are thinking about getting into TEFL as a profession. We end with some talk about what living in Budapest is like, what we like, what we don't like, and some of the unique things about life here.

This is the first interview in what I hope to be regular series where I have open-ended discussions with expats from all over the world.

It's been a while! I was away doing all of the work of ending the school year and now I am finally back to podcasting. Here is the first installment of my news series called The Ex-patriot Interviews, and it features Canadian English teacher Heather Keagan. It's a fun conversation, very light stuff for a change. :)

I am uploading this because it is without the short snippet of Beethoven I had in the episode. Some capitaist pig had to make a claim on the 8 seconds of sound I had in there. Whatever, I took it out, so now you can listen to the whole epose without part of it being muted.

It's a fun interview. We go fairly deep into Democratic politics, messaging, Biden and the r**e allegations, and we even talk about Prince a little.

A teaser for what will be a great episode, coming very soon. https://youtu.be/7h6g-4zyz8w

As promised, here is Part II of my long-form interview with Adam Klugman. Enjoy! https://anchor.fm/burntoutinbudapest/episodes/A-Discussion-with-Adam-Klugman--Part-II-edpeec

This episode is Part II of my long-form interview with Adam Klugman, whom you might know from his now legendary monologues on his old radio show Mad As Hell in America, which used to run on the Air America radio network. For those who did not listen to the first part of the interview, it is worth kn...

I am uploading the second part of my interview with Adam Klugman as we speak. It will air at 9am PST in the United States and 6pm here in Hungary on the Anchor homepage at https://anchor.fm/burntoutinbudapest If you haven't listened to the first half of the interview, you should. The stories Adam Shares are great. This episode goes a lot further into the weeds, discussing Democratic politics, Joe Biden and the r**e allegations against him, the state of affairs of the humanity, and a little about music at the end. Overall, it's a good one. Slowly, but surely I'm getting better at editing these things and starting to build a kind of structure to how I do the feature episodes like this one. I hope you enjoy it. Look for the episode link very soon!

I just finished a two hour conversation with Adam Klugman. It was great to catch up with him. We talked about Democratic politics in America and about music. We barely scratched the surface of the stuff we will get into in more conversations. This will likely be split up into two episodes. Look for Part One of my interview with Adam on Friday!

Question to listeners and potential listeners: If the American government (or any government for that matter) cannot guarantee livable salaries and healthcare while there is a pandemic that forces tens of millions of people to stop working (many of whom will never get those jobs back), what is the use of government? If a government can't do that basic stuff in a time of crisis, should we have government at all?

On this short episode, I ponder the question "who get's to shop at farmer's markets?" The goal is to get a conversation going about the reality that farmer's markets in the US - particularly within large metropolitan cities - have become a kind of luxury, as opposed to a daily necessity. Many questi...
