It’s no secret AI has been on the rise, especially when it comes to social media. We see it being used often to alleviate workloads and provide efficiencies for social media marketers.
But how will that trend continue in 2024?
Hootsuite recently released its Social Media Trends 2024 Report and here are the highlights for AI predictions and recommendations:
⒈ AI use in Social Media will continue to rise in 2024. Especially as it relates to generating copy and graphics, brainstorming ideas, and customer support.
⒉ Brand authenticity will be more important than ever. Consumers are quick to identify “fake” content and that leads to distrust.
⒊ Know Your Audience
If your consumers are primarily Gen Z and Millennials they’re less concerned about the use of AI to enhance the brand and provide more seamless interactions and purchasing as long as the brand still feels authentic.
If your consumers are primarily Gen X and Baby Boomers, they reportedly don’t distinguish as easily between AI and non-AI content and so are more inclined to disengage with a brand if it feels it might be “fake”.
⒋ Redefine authenticity for your brand. The most successful brands will not shy away from AI but find how to embrace it as it fits with their brand and audience. Going forward, it’s predicted that authenticity won’t be defined by “who” or “what” creates your content but by the brand experience you provide to your customer.

⒈ AI use in 2024 will continue to rise 🚀 though brand authenticity will be more important than ever.
Strategic use of AI to generate ideas and build in efficiencies will be a welcome use. But if your consumer feels what you’re sharing or how you’re communicating is “fake” or “off-brand” you’ll lose trust and lose business.
⒉ Brands will forego being on every platform and instead, focus on the platforms that yield results 📈
I always recommend MASTERING 1-2 platforms before diving into others. Know where your audience lives, show up consistently and optimize what that platform is giving you.

It’s arrived, our next shiny object: @threadsapp ✨ Here are 5 things to know about Instagram’s new text-based app. 1️⃣ It’s tied to Instagram and you can easily bring your audience over to the new platform when you create your profile. 2️⃣ You’ll find a scrollable feed. Posts are limited to 500 characters. You can share text, clickable links, individual or carousel photos and videos, videos can be up to 5 minutes in length. 3️⃣ Part of the goal is to create a decentralized social media environment wherein creators have more ownership on the platforms. 4️⃣ Hashtags currently are NOT active but this could change. 5️⃣ Over 30 million people have already joined Threads 🤯 While I’m not suggesting everyone go all-in on Threads yesterday, I do recommend securing your username and checking it out. If you have a presence and are consistent on your current platforms (FB, IG, TikTok…) then see how this new platform fits your brand and business goals. Explore the options, be present but don’t get overwhelmed. Look at the data. Then decide if it belongs in your social media strategy 💎 *Note that if you choose not to use the app, you can deactivate your account but can’t delete it without deleting your Instagram as the two are tied.
