August is National Immunization Awareness Month. With the rise of the Delta variant, immunization is more important than ever. According to the CDC, the Delta variant accounts for more than 80% of all COVID-19 cases in the United States. Variants like Delta are created as COVID-19 is passed from person-to-person, mutating as it spreads.

While it is possible for a vaccinated individual to contract COVID-19, it is rare. Over 97% of hospitalizations from COVID-19 are now among the unvaccinated, and 99% of COVID-19 deaths were among the unvaccinated.

The higher percentage of our population that is vaccinated, the fewer opportunities there are for variants like Delta to spread and mutate into other variants. Getting vaccinated not only protects yourself, it protects your community.

We are currently giving the Pfizer vaccine to individuals ages 12 and older on Tuesday mornings and Thursday afternoons in our Glencoe Clinic. To schedule, call us at 320-864-7816.
