Gonzalo Villarreal is back for his 3rd appearance on the Mood Series. After his previous two EP's, we couldn't be happier to hear what he's been up to and get some new output from him. 'Trascendalia' offers 4 pieces of strong techno that ebb and flow while perfectly balance catchy, addictive yet distinctive and dancefloor directed. 'Dhammacor Ascendance' is a techy dub gem. The broken almost electro beat really shines inside these chords that ride and build. 'Synaptic Alchemy (V1)' unique chord work is something to behold. If you are after dub techno that rises but also changes directions, then check out this piece. V2 of this track offers a bit more streamlined version while still really honing in on the hook of the track. Either way, both version are epic! 'Zenithian Awakening' is a wonderful way to close this EP out. A beautiful and soothing ride, this is a fine example of the future of the genre through Gonzalo's eye. To close these masterful pieces with this amazing ending really ties the EP for long replays and plenty of listening time. One thing Greyscale looks for pushing the boundaries is a different color and timber to the evolution of the style. This isn't your ordinary dub techno. Check this out! Having first made his debut back in 2020, he now returns to us with 'Evening Space'. 6 pieces that embraces the house roots within dub techno. 6 examples of tracky workouts for every special moment in nightlife. 'Asteroid' leads things off on the EP with a body-shaking club mover. This flighty hike through the upper atmosphere midway takes an emotional break for deepness before riding off in style. A prime cut for any DJ looking to shift the set into a deeper one while 'Sent to Sky' and 'Own Escape' are a bit more grittier tracks that are adding some nice house touches throughout. 'Third One' also extends towards more house moods yet still strides firmly in the dub techno category. This pick gives all of us an appreciation for the classy sounds reminiscent to the early 2000's. 'Sunset' speeds things up for the later evening with pure intentions for prime real estate workouts on the dancefloor. This is such a house banger and we especially dig the smooth breakdown towards the end. 'Ship' wraps it all in a bow with a wonderful and memorable ending. 'Evening Space' has so many great moments. Subset is a masterful producer whose naming of tracks always gives a great overview of what you can expect to feel or be transported to. Tracks like 'Sandstorm on Mars' and 'Cocooned Under the Stars' are perfect examples of that. Ones that take the idea of field recording and successfully push them to a higher level. 'Dust in the Droid' is a fantastic darker interlude that shows his talent at creating soundtrack level ambience. 'Sitting in a Room' is a beautiful and haunting piece while the title track is the most dub techno oriented track yet on this sprawling album. The pacing of this album is particularly noteworthy. 'Auteur' is another gem that houses a poignant and magical melody within its rhythms'. Armchair listening could not get much better than 'Ambient Particles'. Mood Series gets a visit from a familiar name with Zub. 'Come Adrift' is #101 for the Mood Series in totality. The title track plants itself firmly between house and techno while the underlying groove holding things in place is purely dub components. Naturally, with the title one will think of an aquatic atmosphere but it has much more than that. The percussion is where things get interesting. Always supporting the deepness, the intricate changes really add to the complexities of the rhythm. The wicked bassline holds everything in place. The kind of track you want to drift forever to. 'Deep Blue' is a great companion to the title track. It also is a nice breezy, melodic dub groover. Both of these gems have and fantastic charm to them for day and night DJ sessions. And both are sure to get approval from the average club goer to the most discerning dub fanatic. We are very pleased to see Zub back on the Mood Series.
