I was cobbling together social media posts for College Esports teams, without any real prior knowledge of the industry. So I decided to learn more about growing on social media, with a particular interest in YouTube. Most people would have thought that I had got lucky, and that I didn’t earn the positions I was in. Not only that, but people in my position would feel lost and not know where to go f
or help or advice. The “gurus” always talked about success, but never provided any grounded insights. I was working in these jobs, and I realized quickly that nobody really knew what they were doing. They were all floundering like I was. Some of us were just getting luckier than the others. And others seemed to have figured it out, they found the one source of truth out of the slew of “how to guides” that existed. I was having moderate success growing brands to the sizes that the clients wanted. Even though I succeeded, and produced the numbers that some upper entity wanted, I felt as though I had stumbled my way through it. Information was all over, but most of it was just white noise. I couldn’t find a reliable source to learn about being successful as a content creator. I spent a lot of time hunting for answers. My plan is to take my hunt for the truth public. I want to share the information that I find helpful with anyone looking to build in the creator economy. By sharing my specific insights, my own content journey, I can hopefully communicate learnings along the way that may be the “light bulb” moment for another creator. After changing my mindset around having a “growth” mentality, I have found success in growing on social media, particularly YouTube for my current job. I don’t believe that I know all of the answers. But I do believe that I will research my brains out to find them, and I’m will to test any thesis that comes my way. In the search, for consistency. So far I have:
