The popular sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Ghanshyam took his last breath at Mumbai’s Suchak Hospital at around 5:30pm on Sunday. Last year, the senior actor underwent surgery after eight knots were found in his neck. He had started taking chemotherapy sessions after getting diagnosed with cancer and passed away at the age of 77.
The news of Ghanshyam’s death was shared by Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah producer Asit Kumar Modi.

Dhaka University (DU) admission tests will be held from October 1, at all divisional cities of the country besides Dhaka.
The development was announced at a press conference today by DU Vice-Chancellor Professor Akhtaruzzaman.
The Vice-Chancellor said undergraduate (honours) admission tests for the academic year 2020-21 will be held in public universities in seven divisional cities for the first time. The decision was taken to allow students to reach test centres in less time, save money, and reduce inconvenience.

The government will run a special campaign tomorrow to inoculate 80 lakh people with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines and mark the birthday of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Starting from 9:00am, the campaign will be conducted in 16,153 centres set up in around 4,600 unions, 1,054 municipalities and 433 wards in the city corporation areas across the country.

Bangladeshi photographer Shahriar Amin Fahim's photo "Karwaan Bazaar" received the excellence award at the Nikon Photo Contest 2020-21 in Japan under the "next generation category".
He was also nominated as the grand prize winner, the highest award , but lost out to an Iranian photographer Amin Nazari.
Shahriar will receive $4,000 worth camera equipment for being a category winner and for being a nominee of the grand prize.

Bangladesh's first animated film "Mujib Amar Pita" was announced amidst much enthusiasm. Based on the book, "Sheikh Mujib Amar Pita", dedicated to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and authored by the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the full-fledged 2D film is directed by Sohel Mohammad Rana.
Produced by Prolancer Studio, the largest 2D animation studio in Bangladesh, the film got clearance from the Bangladesh Film Censor Board on September 16. It is now set to hit theatres countrywide on October 1.

All viruses mutate over time, including SARS-CoV-2, the virus which causes Covid-19 disease
Delta has all but elbowed out the three other Covid-19 variants of concern, which now represent a tiny fraction of the samples being sequenced, the WHO said Tuesday.
"Less than one percent each of Alpha, Beta and Gamma are currently circulating. It's really predominantly Delta around the world," said Maria Van Kerkhove, the World Health Organization's technical lead on Covid-19.
Delta "has become more fit, it is more transmissible and it is out-competing, it is replacing the other viruses that are circulating," she told a WHO social media live interaction, adding that Delta had been detected in more than 185 countries to date.

The single-day Covid-19 infection rate in Bangladesh dropped below 5% for the first time in over six months as the health authorities reported 4.69% infection rate on Tuesday.
The country’s daily infection rate stood at 4.98% on March 8. On March 7, it was 4.3%.
The gradual drop in the infection rate below 5% indicates that the country’s coronavirus situation is improving, according to health experts.

A Dhaka court has sentenced Abdul Malek, a driver of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), to 30 years imprisonment in two charges under an arms case.The court sentenced Abdul Malek to 15 years in prison for possession of an arms and another 15 years for possession of a bullet.

The shooting of National Film Award-winning filmmaker Fakhrul Arefeen Khan's upcoming silver screen venture, titled "JK 1971" began yesterday in West Bengal's Pailan Studio, according to a press release.
"JK 1971" will revolve around a historic incident which took place during the Liberation War of Bangladesh on a foreign land. Khan, who has films like "Bhuban Majhi" and "Gondi" to his credit, has worked with US actor Francisco Raymond and Russian artistes Derya Guvrosenko and Nikolai Novominski on the film.

Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni on Friday said that the education institutions under no circumstances can charge money for the assignments in the assessment of learning results of students.Schools have been closed for a long time. If students have dues, it can be realized in installments or some other arrangements. The dues should not be mixed up with assignments," she said.

School days for eighth and ninth graders have been increased from once to twice a week.
The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education said in a notification that from September 20 students of class 8 will attend schools on Sundays and Thursdays while ninth graders will have in-person classes on Saturdays and Wednesday.
In-person classes for grades 6 and 7 will be held once a week-- on Tuesdays and Mondays-- respectively, according to previous instructions.
Students taking this year’s Secondary School Certificate (SSC) exams and 10th graders will continue with the six-day school week, it said.

Rab has arrested e-commerce platform Evaly's Chairman Shamima Nasrin and CEO, Managing Director Mohammad Rassel this afternoon from their Mohammadpur residence.

Virat Kohli on Thursday announced that he will step down as India’s T20I captain after the conclusion of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. Kohli, who has played 90 T20Is for India, has captained in 45 of those matches and won 27 of them.

Bangladesh reported some 35 deaths from Covid-19 in the last 24 hours till Tuesday 8 am, which is the lowest in more than three months.
The health officials also reported a 6.54% positivity rate on Tuesday. Earlier on 13 March, a 6.26% rate was reported.Meanwhile, some 2,074 more people tested positive for the virus nationwide during the 24 hours.

PM Sheikh Hasina on Monday approved the draft outline of the national education framework. The draft shows:
No public examinations before the SSC exams.
No annual exams up to class 3
PEC and JSC exams to be scrapped.
Subject-based group division at class 9 and 10 will be scrapped too.
Two public exams will be held each in class 11 and 12.
Results of HSC exams will be prepared evaluating final exams of class 11 and class 12

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque on Sunday said there is no vaccine crisis in the country as 5,400,000 doses have already arrived this month and another 15,000,000 doses are due by end of the month.
The health minister made the remark while addressing the orientation program for the newly recruited junior consultants (Anaesthesiologists) at Dhaka's Osmani Memorial Auditorium as the chief guest on Sunday afternoon.
He said the appointing of 409 anaesthesiologists to the 6th grade at once was a massive step during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Noted actor and model, Bidya Sinha Mim and Mehazabien Chowdhury turned down a proposal to work in a Bollywood film 'Khufiya' as its script displayed incorrect representation of Bangladesh.
Mim received an email before Eid, to sign up for renowned director Vishal Bhardwaj's film 'Khufiya', said the actor to a local media. The film fell under the political genre.
Though Mim liked the character, she rejected the role after reading the script; as it does not represent Bangladesh rightly.
"It's difficult to say no to a renowned director", said Mim.
Later small screen popular actor Mehazabien Chowdhury was offered the same role in July and she too turned it down.
The actor said she had to politely decline the offer as she felt the story has been formulated without knowing appropriate political history and other background information about Bangladesh.
"It was my first offer from Bollywood, but it's unfortunate that I couldn't accept the offer" she said, adding that, she hopes to receive a better offer in the future.

58 Covid deaths and 2,588 cases recorded in 24 hours
Bangladesh logged yet another 58 deaths and 2,588 in 24 hours between Wednesday to Thursday morning.
The infection rate in the country dropped below 9% after 3 months and 11 days.
At least 29,541 Covid-19 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, yielding a positivity rate of 8.76%. Meanwhile, the overall infection rate stands at 16.62%. On May 29, the infection rate was below this, at 7.91%. It has been on a steady rise since then.
With this, the coronavirus death toll shot up to 26,794 and the cases tally to 1,524,890.

Infection rate now 9.69%
Bangladesh on Tuesday logged another 56 deaths and 2,639 cases in the last 24 hours.
With this, the death toll has reached 26,684 and the total cases tally stands at 1,519,805.
The infection rate has remained below 10% for the fourth consecutive day, at 9.69%.
The latest figures were published by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) via a bulletin on Tuesday.
The seven-day moving average of deaths is at 69.8 presently. It was 74.14 on Monday.
Another 27,233 samples were tested between Monday and Tuesday morning.
Of the deceased, 19 were male and 37 female. Twenty-seven of the deceased were above 60 years of age, 20 were between 51 to 60 years old, and nine of the deceased were below 50.

The daily infection rate remains below 10%
Bangladesh’s Covid-19 caseload rose by 2,710 in the 24 hours between 8am on Sunday and 8am on Monday, while the health authorities reported 65 more deaths.
The additions took the Covid-19 death toll to 26,628 and the total caseload to 1,517,166 since the pandemic hit the country in March last year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The number of new cases also kept the daily test positivity rate below 10% for the third consecutive day.
The DGHS reported a 9.82% infection rate after testing 27,595 samples across the country between Sunday and Monday mornings.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Malek has said that coronavirus vaccine Moderna and Pfizer will be given to students above 12 years of age but under 18 years of age.
He also said that a decision would be taken to start immunization of students above 12 years of age subject to adequate immunization.
Zahid Malek told reporters while inspecting the Comprehensive (Licensing / Pre-Registration) examination center under the "Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council" at Tenjgaon in the capital on Saturday (September 4th).

TOKYO -- Mitsubishi Motors is set to build an auto assembly plant in Bangladesh as part of its expansion in Southeast Asia.
Mitsubishi and state-owned Bangladesh Steel and Engineering Corporation (BSEC) on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding. The two parties will conduct a feasibility study on business opportunities to determine when to build the plant. The study will be completed by 2025.
The new plant will cater to growing auto demand in Bangladesh by expanding knockdown production. The plant's capacity, the amount of the investment and which models will be made there will be determined based on the Bangladeshi government’s support and incentives.

Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal has withdrawn from the upcoming T20 WC in the UAE and Oman starting on October 17. ''As I did not play in the last 15 to 20 T20 matches, and whoever replaced me, I don't think it would be fair on them if I take their place," the southpaw said through a video message on Facebook.

AR Rahman has collaborated with Bangladesh’s national award winning lyricist Zulfiqer Russel to compose and lend his voice to two themed songs to celebrate the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Both songs were recorded at Rahman’s Chennai studio last year.
Bolo Joy Bangabandhu’ — was played at an event to mark the 50th independence anniversary of Bangladesh while the Bengali song — ‘Aj O Shuni Bojrodhoni’ — is awaiting release. This is the first time Rahman has composed for and sung a song in Bengali.

Attack at Afghan Presidents house on Eid Day
Rockets have landed near the Afghan presidential palace in Kabul during prayers for the Eid al-Adha. Still President Ashraf Ghani continued with the prayers despite multiple loud explosions. At least 3 rockets landed in the kabul.There were no immediate reports of injuries. The attack coincides with a Taliban offensive across the country as foreign forces wind up a troop withdrawal scheduled.But it was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.
