Career Day

Career Day Experiment
We wanted to show how editing and post production can really affect the outcome of a scene.

They say a film is made 3 times, the first is when the script is written, the second is during filming, and the last is in the edit. So much can change in each phase, creating a new product.

This is the same scene, however the first one plays the scene more comedic, a detective is at school for his kid’s career day and he cant help but stick with his work persona. The wide angle allows us to see the freak out from a distance, and appreciate the movement as part of his comedic outburst

When it plays a second time, despite the voice acting leaning towards comedy, we use a dynamic camera that is closer to the subject, this allows us to see his emotions, the music is more eerie and sinister so this scene plays out like a character moment where we learn how aggressive and dark our character can be. If you get caught up in the action, you might even forget we are in a classroom.
The lighting is also used to convey a darker message, using color theory acid green is often used to represent evil, often in conjunction with purple 😈 these subliminal messages help us set the tone
