We had a great meeting with yesterday, and it sounds like they want to move forward and add us to their list of broadcasters they can call upon if they need extra teams to broadcast State high school playoff games! We always enjoyed live streaming high school sports, and the possible opportunity to live stream them on some of the biggest stages is nothing short of amazing!

This last weekend, the finals of Euro2024 took place, and it broadcasted to almost 1.7 million viewers. What’s even more impressive, in our opinion, is the camera set up they brought in to this broadcast.

47 cameras, from tripod mounted to camera cranes and even one on a helicopter! Thanks to SVG Europe, we are able to even see the layout of the cameras at the event! Most of these cameras were utilized for instant replay/review, while others were used just by the coaches to make informed decisions during the game.

The first-ever instant replay in televised football debuted at the 1963 Army vs Navy game! The crew used enormous tape recorder machines and even a film reel of "I Love Lucy" to capture the plays. Only one replay—a touchdown—aired, confusing many viewers who thought two touchdowns were scored. Instant replay wouldn’t make its NFL debut until 1986!

We’re in Spokane today to learn, grow, and connect! Our vision is not only to produce live video content for events and businesses, but to allow them to leverage our services to extend the growth and success of their events and increase overall ROI. So we came to the Washington Festivals and Events Association to not only participate in the large networking luncheon they have, but to sit in seminars and gain a better understanding of sponsorship relationships with events, what our role can be in these relationships, and learn more how we can extend our services to our clients to help them get more sponsorship.

In all the hubbub we forgot to take any photos or videos, but this last weekend we started working with the Wenatchee Bighorns basketball team to produce their livestreams for the 2024 season! This is the first time we’ve live-streamed basketball since the pandemic, and it was an absolute blast! It came with new challenges we overcame while getting to implement some new broadcast techniques that we’ve been working on!

AI content is more and more prominent in many content creation industries. From script writing to creating realistic photos and videos, organizations are more and more relying on AI to create content for their social media as well as internal content like training videos. With all of this implementation, there is one form of content AI is not as prominent in, and that is Live Streaming.

Live streaming still has a strong human element required to work. While AI can be integrated to make some of the content shown in a live stream, it cannot determine when to switch cameras, master audio, nor can it physically stream the content for you. Live Streaming is probably one of the last creative frontiers that hasn’t been greatly affected by AI, and we aim to continue to provide more value to our clients that AI will ever be able to do, so that if the day comes that AI can live stream, clients will still choose us.

A year in review:

It seems as soon as 2023 started, it was over!

At the end of 2022, when the high schools in Washington were told they were required to contract their live streaming through NFHS- along with the box truck we turned into a broadcast truck went out of commission- we weren’t sure what the future held and what direction we were going to go. This last year, we had two main objectives:

- Gain a better understanding of how our services benefit our clients

- Fine tune our target audience, and figure out how to find them (from a marketing standpoint)

Here’s what we accomplished last year:
- Found a great partner to work with in the Roller Derby scene Lilac City Roller Derby

- Worked on a fashion show project that was a very perspective changing experience

- Started the process of becoming a vendor listed with the Washington Festivals and Events Association, the biggest network of event producers in the State.

While this last year showed progress as we transitioned away from high school sports, we have a long way to go before we reach the level we want to be. Here are our 2024 goals:

- Acquire a new mobile production unit, whether it’s a box truck, van or trailer, which ever presents the opportunity.

- Continue networking in WFEA to connect with new potential clients and turn them to reoccurring partnerships

- Work with previous clients on their events occurring this year

- Expand our services from just live streaming services and provide video on demand recordings, as well as start working to get into video wall (aka Jumbotron) services

There is quite a lot on our plate this year, but honestly it’s probably the first year we have had true direction rather than just throwing everything against the wall and seeing what sticked.

Yesterday, we had an opportunity to produce a video on a project we would have never expected to work on: a fashion show! To say this was amazing experience is an understatement! One of the things this business strives for is to capture others giving it their all for what they love, whether it’s in sports, business, or creative. Seeing these students take ideas in their heads and bring it to life, and for their models to put these ideas on full display in will definitely be one of the highlights of ZZBS.

Mark your calendars derby fans, we’ll wait 👀…

All jokes aside, ZZ Broadcast Studios will be live streaming the bout hosted by Lilac City Roller Derby on April 8th. This bout features a double header, where the Yetis skate against Bellingham Roller Betties at 5pm, following the Lilac City Open Gender team vs Idaho Wildfire starting at 7pm.

Our goal again here is to have the stream on at least 15 minutes before the bout starts, 4:45pm PST.

If you have the time, please make sure to tune into this broadcast. We plan on pulling out all the stops (just not toestops, for safety reasons) and aim to make this our biggest live production yet!

Is this the dream or what? This is a trailer that a group out of Pennsylvania called JRM Video Production built so that they could travel to a variety of locations. I've had the chance to talk with these guys a couple of times online, and let's just say, their set up is solid! From a technology standpoint to how they run a live video business, we here at ZZ Broadcast definitely look to them as role models in what we hope to become!

Well, this certainly came as a surprise to us, since we were never told this was happening.
We considered this would happen at some point, just thought it would have been later.

It’s been a fun three years Coyote Fans. We were honored to have provided video during the pandemic when the state did not allow any spectators. Seeing family from states away being able to watch their grandkids, nieces and nephews play was truly an unforgettable experience. This has not only allowed the students to be seen by all of their fans, but it helped us learn so much about our own processes and truly pushed us in the right direction on how to produce quality content for you to see; however, as of now, we will no longer be live-streaming the Kittitas High School Varsity.

We also want to thank all of the sponsors and businesses who have supported our cause over the last three years. Their support allowed us to do what we love, and helped us upgrade our equipment to bring viewers the best production we could.

What’s our plan moving forward? We aren’t sure at this point, but I am confident we will endure. We’re looking to upgrade our travel studio so we can start serving clients outside of the county, and who knows, maybe some day we’ll be a statewide condenser.

Good luck to the present and future student athletes of Kittitas.

Kittitas Sports Fans!

Homecoming game is this Friday (obviously).
We are in the works to really up our game and make this a spectacular livestream. We’re talking commentary, multiple cameras, and if all goes well, slow motion instant replay! We are super excited to try and make this happen, but we need some help!

We are looking for three (3) more volunteer camera operators. No experience required, as long as you can operate a camera tripod and follow the action.

You won’t need to run a camera during the halftime homecoming show, so you will be able to watch that in the stands. We are just looking for volunteers for the game itself.
