Ever hit a streak where you're closing projects non-stop, then out of nowhere, your inbox goes silent?
โ
I was spending sometime on YT this morning and stumbled upon a video -
It's all about this idea called the "locus of control".
Sounds fancy, but it's actually simple.
So, there was this study with kids doing puzzles.
Some were told they were nailing it because they were smart, and others because they worked hard.
The hard workers ended up enjoying the tough puzzles more and just had a better time overall.
It got me thinking about us and our freelancing journey.
If we believe our successes (or the lack of them) are all about our own efforts, not just luck or being "naturally talented," we're more likely to push through the tough times.
Not because of the courses, the groups, other VAs... but ourselves.
It means when we land a project, it's because we hustled for it.
And if a client ghosts us or cancels on us, it's not about blaming the stars but figuring out what we can do better next time.
This mindset shift has been a game-changer for me.
It's like, why waste time worrying about stuff we can't control?
Let's focus on putting in the work, improving our skills, and just getting better every day.
That's how we grow, land more clients, and actually enjoy this rollercoaster ride of freelancing.
So, next time you're hitting a rough patch or celebrating a win, remember, it's all about the effort you put in.
Keep grinding, keep learning, and keep winning (or failing) haha all part of the process!!
Happy Friday y'all ๐ฅ๐ช
