Was able to find the first podium of 2024 yesterday in 40+ 2wd!!!! Just missed it by one spot.

It was a great day of racing on the grey carpet at Red Brush RC winter facility.

Racing on carpet definitely makes you be consistent and forces you to drive within your limits.

It was awesome to get back to Easley RC this past weekend for the Carolina Cup. Such a cool place. Truly a complex with dirt and asphalt oval and the offroad track.

Unfortunately a nasty storm came through right before the Main Event and it was a wash out.

I wasn’t quite up to speed nor comfortable most of the day qualifying 10th of 12. But I was hopeful and was anxious to see how the mains would turn out. But it wasn’t the plan for Mother Nature. We’ll have to try again.

It was great seeing old friends though. One of the great things about racing is the memories you make over the years that you really don’t realize your making in the moment.

It’s was a great weekend of racing at . Amazing NC weather all day.

After a couple years away from 1/8 I couldn’t be more happier with the way my brand new 8XE 2.0 drove. What a time to be in RC when you have bag by bag build videos from the product developer Ryan Dunford on YouTube.

I had full support from with an aresenal of tires to choose from. I really liked the new aqua compound and the relapse tread pattern.

It was great to be back at the track with friends and see some old friends from years ago.

Great night out at Racin Rays Bullring. For Tuesday Night Dirt Oval.

Starting to settle in and improve my line. Getting comfortable with my Custom Works chassis. Haven’t had to touch it since ole 9 Time built it for me!!!

Green Jconcepts sprinters, Trinity powered , controlled and steered!!!

Beautiful NC evening weather and racing with some great people. I’m really enjoying this.

It has reminded my why I fell in love with RC to start with.

Loved talking to Dave Timmerman pictured here as the winner. He used to operate East Coast Motors and has the best RC stories.

When choosing my current paint scheme I looked to some of the most iconic paint schemes out there.


I thought it was interesting that the fastest guys on the planet also had the best looking paint.


I noticed that the paint that I thought looked the best only used 4 colors at max with the 4th color typically being a highlight color.


And there was one dominating color that covered 3/4 of the body.


The best looking paint is also not as busy design wise as you would think. It’s more of a blend of the best contrasting and complementing colors.


Also in most cases decals were what really made the look pop. The decal color always matched the wheel color and it was usually outlined in the dominate paint color.


Armed with these tips I went to photoshop and came up with my paint scheme and sent it off to my painter.


It is my favorite scheme to date and has brought a lot of compliments.

The old saying means learning or imitating a process without knowing why or how it works. ​
​
​
There's no better place to observe this than 17.5 Buggy. All the focus is on the latest equipment instead of the driver.​
​
​
We all have been guilty of this at some point in our racing careers. Its just so easy to buy whatever the fast guy has. Motor, battery, ESC, current hot chassis, bearings the list goes on and on. ​
​
​
You have probably seen it too. A racer who shows up at the track with wholesale equipment changes once a month trying to find what suits him.​
​
​
Some people have it worse than others. ​
​
​
But whether we want to admit it or not, it's actually human nature to imitate others when we are in an unfamiliar situation. ​
​
​
We just need to refocus our energy on asking why and track time rather than shiny objects.​
​
​
BUT IT'S NOT YOUR FAULT.​
​
​
Racing especially RC Racing is extremely hard. And there really isn’t anyone out there to guide people.​
​
​
Magazines used to be great for this but as things have shifted online there’s a lot more marketing and a lot less learning.​
​
