This is my favorite nfl story ever

The Denver Broncos gave up 70 points to their former ball boy.

That's not a typo.

Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel was born and raised in Colorado, and was a big Broncos fan.

In 2005, his first NFL job was as a coaching intern for his hometown Broncos.

Fast forward 17 years, and in January 2022, Denver had a head coaching vacancy.

At the time, McDaniel had made a name for himself as the star offensive coordinator for the San Francisco 49ers. He was looking to be a head coach, and other teams were interested.

But any hopes he had of coaching his favorite team were immediately dashed.

The Broncos didn’t even give him an interview.

In Week 3, McDaniel led his Dolphins against those same Broncos - and no doubt McDaniel told his team what this game meant.

Because the Dolphins’ offense absolutely obliterated Denver:

🔥 726 yards (2nd-most all time)
🔥 10.2 yards per play
🔥 70 points (3rd-most all time, and most since 1966)
🔥 1st team in NFL history to score 70 AND record 700 yards of offense

For Mike McDaniel, this one was personal.

And he got the last laugh.

Well, I finally made a new podcast, almost a year later. I’ve wanted to do one where it’s just me talking for a while now and finally had a little bit of time. It’s not a fun one, honestly just needed a space to vent a little bit. I’ll probably keep making these, but I’ll up the production value and get some actual topics in there, sprinkling in my life here and there. Why can’t the Broncos-Chargers game be flexed with the Bills-Chiefs game? I mean what is a better Monday night game??

Thursday night football is not enough time for teams to prepare when they play the Sunday before. Maybe the NFL should consider canning it entirely or replacing it with Tuesday night football.

It would be the same week as Monday and Sunday games so no team would play Sunday then Tuesday. It gives teams an extra day to prepare for their next game (Wednesday-Sunday instead of Monday-Thursday) or an extra day of rest when they play Tuesday night. It’ll make for more fun games instead of two hurt teams getting even more hurt every week. This is why the matchups on Thursday night are hardly ever intriguing too, cus they always play bad teams together or a bad and good team together.

They could also do a second Monday night broadcast which is the NFL’s Plan for like 5 weeks next year so maybe that should be the untilmate replacement for Thursday night and Tuesday night?
