Candied pecans anyone?! Eating these brings back so many memories of concerts at the state fair!
Also, who do you pronounce pecan? I say it puh-con 👏🏼
1 large egg white
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups pecan halves
1 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup light brown sugar
5 teaspoons cinnamon
1/3 cup Water
I also add a few almonds if I have them like I did today
In a mixing bowl add the egg whites and vanilla together and whisk until frothy then add in the pecans. Next add in the sugar, brown sugar and cinnamon. Spray your crockpot or put in a liner. Add the pecan mixture to the slow cooker on low for three hours, stirring every hour. When the pecans are a half an hour away from done pour in the water and stir one final time. Remove and spread the nuts out on a baking sheet to cool. Enjoy!

How Justus is adjusting to country life…
Today is officially the first day of Fall and marks one month since we moved to the country! We were blessed with a lovely rain and there is a wonderful glow out here.
We have actually been praying for a long time to find a home out of town, a home that would provide peace and comfort of a slower paced life. To help us parent away from the hustle and bustle of a modern changing world. So when this rental came open we thought it might be too good to be true. Although it is a little further out of town than we wanted, we trusted every door that God was guiding us through to be here. We hit many road blocks when it came to homes in town and even more when it came to cost and size for our family. Those blocks make you question and wonder if you’re doing the right thing. But trusting the process is what the Lord asks of us.
I’d be lying if I said there were not cons to where we have settled. The longer drive to town (and current highway construction), the wet and very muddy roads when it rains, the new tires we’ve had to get since moving, the bugs and critters, no more lunch breaks with Dad, the fuel costs…and did I mention bugs?! But gosh, the pros far outweigh the cons!!
There is peace out here. Silence. There is space to dream and play, it has this amazing enchanting glow after a rain! Our home has a warm and welcoming feeling, the kids have their own spaces but also choose to gather together. The vintage charm of the home is unique and gives my brain a creative space. The kitchen is a dream to cook and bake, and hello we have more than one bathroom 👏🏼 The family projects are fun to work on and the sunrises and sunsets are truly God’s artwork 🧡

We finally have a pantry…funny fact I actually posted this to sell before we moved and then after 50 messages to buy I decided to keep it. Sure glad I did…loving the green in the kitchen.
