Hitting off Aarhus Jazz Festival already this Saturday. Very excited to launch my new Jazz/Hip Hop project and play some new music with my Trio.
My personal recommendation: ICY IGLOO at 14 JULY at Aarhus Domen, local and international Jazz/Hip Hop projects and some insane rap guests 🥶🥶🥶

Sidste år summede Aarhus-jazzscenen med nye navne, der blander jazzen med inspiration fra hiphop og R'n'B.
En af disse kunstnere er Elza Ozolina – en Aarhusbaseret lettisk jazzpianist, komponist og producer. Hun begyndte at spille musik allerede som fireårig. Elzas interesse for jazz blev vakt i teenageårene, og hiphop-påvirkningen gik på det tidspunkt hånd i hånd med hendes jazzstudier.
I år debuterer Elza som soloartist med et album i fuld længde med et dusin rap- og vokalindslag.
Vi kan forvente en velsmagende blanding af jazzakkorder og sjælfulde hiphop-beats domineret af fremragende kunstnere fra Europa og USA.
Elza har lavet meget larm med sine kompositioner, hvorfor en af dem allerede i 2019 blev optaget på BBC Radio 3's top 10- jazzindspilninger i programmet Jazz A- Z.

Last year, the Aarhus jazz scene buzzed with new names that mix jazz with inspiration from hip-hop and R'n'B.
One of these artists is Elza Ozolina – an Aarhus-based Latvian jazz pianist, composer and producer. She started playing music already at the age of four. Elsa's interest in jazz was sparked in her teenage years, and the hip-hop influence then went hand in hand with her jazz studies.
This year, Elza debuts as a solo artist with a full-length album with a dozen rap and vocal features.
We can expect a tasty mix of jazz chords and soulful hip-hop beats dominated by outstanding artists from Europe and the USA.
Elza has made a lot of noise with her compositions, which is why one of them was already recorded on BBC Radio 3's top 10 jazz recordings in the Jazz A-Z program in 2019.

Med sin musik skaber den Berlin-baserede trommeslager og producer MAGRO en usædvanlig fusion af akustisk jazz og produceret hip-Hop/RnB.
Hans projekt kombinerer mange musikalske påvirkninger, såsom Herbie Hancock, J Dilla og Chris Dave.
MAGRO's første album Trippin (2021) blev for nylig belønnet med German Jazz Prize (for Årets debutalbum). Nu har han dgivet opfølgeren "II" (udtales: Two), hvor blandt andre up-coming R'n'B-sangerinde Leona Berlin og New York-klavervirtuosen BIGYUKI medvirker.
MAGRO har gennem årene samarbejdet med adskillige kunstnere som trommeslager og producer, herunder Kenny Wesley, J Lamotta, Stimulus, Yvonne Mwale og Kurt Rosenwinkel. Derudover har han været producer på mange af Leona Berlins album og singler - inklusive Wrong Lane (featuring selveste Snoop Dogg), Change og Leona Berlin.

With his music, Berlin-based drummer and producer MAGRO creates an unusual fusion of acoustic jazz and produced hip-hop/RnB.

mood fm. er et projekt ledet af den aarhusianske rapper Blacc El som et hyldestshow til den afdøde rapper og producer Daniel Dumile aka MF DOOM a.k.a Viktor Vaughn aka ... . (1971–2020).
Bandets optræden er en fusion af jazz og hiphop påvirket af sange fra album som MM...FOOD, BORN LIKE THIS, Madvillainy, Operation: Doomsday (Complete) og Chrome Children Vol. . 1. mood fm. fungerer som et fartøj, der kanaliserer skurkens MF DOOM’s energi, som han skabte i sit tegneserie-inspirerede lyriske og lydmæssige univers.
Blacc El omdannes til skurkekarakteren mood - et freestyle-, beatbox-, voice-over-kommenterende ego, som interagerer med bandet som et ekstra instrument, hvilket bringer publikum tættere på og forbinder dem med deres klassiske DOOM-numre . med et twist. Fortolket af jazzbandet bestående af klaver, bas og ofte mere end ofte to trommeslagere for at få den rette sample-fornemmelse.

Blacc El transforms into the villain character mood - a freestyle, beatboxing, voice-over commentary ego who interacts with the band as an additional instrument, bringing the audience closer and connecting them with their classic DOOM tracks. with a twist. Interpreted by the jazz band consisting of piano, bass and often more than often two drummers to get the right sample feel.
