It’s been a bit since I’ve used this platform.
I’m still alive!
I’m also gearing up to run a post-apocalyptic LARP at the end of September. I’m working on props, costume pieces, and a little bit of everything else.
The event is Amtpocalypse: Welcome to the Thunderdome which is a variation on Amtgard’s rules and uses foam dart blasters. If you’re in the Chattanooga area I hope you come by.

After the passing of my wife’s grandparents, I rescued some pieces that were heading to the trash. Starting at the right is an old Magnavov am/fm radio, a full bicentennial Pepsi bottle, Good Housekeeping’s illustrated cookbook 1930, the history of Kentucky 1930, Kentucky’s best recipes book, the Complete book of Science, and box of old family recipes.

I still have a number of pieces to find places for like a 50s table lamp and table fan, a 40s era suitcase, and lots of interesting papers from the 40s-50s including newspapers from the Oak Ridge nuclear bomb development site.

Soviet cosmonaut Sergei Krikalev was in space when the Soviet Union fell apart in 1991. Unable to return home, he ended up having to stay in space until further notice.

The cosmonaut eventually returned back to earth on March 25, 1992, after 10 months in orbit - to a nation that was very different to what it was when he had left. The Soviet Union had fractured into 15 nations, presidents had changed, and even his hometown of Leningrad had become St. Petersburg.

Interestingly, at the time, Krikalev was supposed to serve in the military reserves, and was almost issued a warrant for desertion – before the army realised that their reserve soldier was not even on the planet.

Arcology 23 is the underground shelter to a number of survivors. Here, in the Eastgate community, survivors live and work within the closed structure. Industrial sectors include the power plant, water reclamation, aquaponics, and a slew of smaller rooms to serve the people. Survivors have recreational time as well with popular gatherings in the movie theater, or, for the adrenalin junkies, racing forklifts down the main hall. Welcome to Eastgate, welcome home.
