Morning coffee read: We known this as long as I can remember and every couple of years, the story crawls back. Bugs don’t bug me.

Insects are a nutrition-dense source of protein embraced by much of the world. Why are some of us so squeamish about eating them?

Let’s talk about pizza. I’ve eaten a lot of pies including it’s birthplace Italy to New York (it’s second home) all the way Arizona and even Sydney. Every city proclaims they have the best. Oddly, Chris Bianco, in Phoenix touts legions of chefs as fans for his delicious disks with flour grown and milled within the southern western state. This brings me to slices made at Frankie’s Parlor, serving NY-style slices (and whole rounds) that can be rolled up and carried with one hand. While the toppings taste delicious - Charleen and Cheese in ‘Gram — the crust is breathtaking. Chewy with a bit of crumb on the border but, supple to bend and chew. I had to ask the two pizza-makers where they bought the dough. It’s Stagioni which is some of the finest to make a hand toss. Additionally, the kiosk belongs to Fountain Square-based Turchetti’s Salumeria, so eaters KNOW that’s artisanal, handcrafted pepperoni. (Oh! They also have a GF crust too!)

People often ask, “Well, why did you move to Indy?” In many ways the annual Sportcars Together Fest by Porsche displays the reason. Look for the logo. LOL. We attended on the last day at IMS arguably one of the world’s most famous race courses. Thousands of Porsches whirring their engines at Indy. My favorite was the off-roading track, as if, I’m taking my $100,000 SUV into the mud.

There’s something about Fisher’s, specifically The Yard at Fisher’s District and the array of dining options. I’ve been to the Test Kitchen several times now, but Nick hasn’t been to the area since we moved from LA. One of the great loves besides our four-legged kids are tacos and wouldn’t ya know, Sangrita Grill & Saloon, opened a a tortilla and tequila place during the pandemic. Yep, it’s the sister restaurant to the Broad Ripple flagship. With friends in tow — yep, we made a few in Indy — we dined on mahi mahi, fried oyster mushrooms (vegetarian), a house made chorizo with a quail egg, pork belly and asada. While they come on a flour tortilla, we ordered ours with corn for the GF (non-gluten). We dined outside and feasted on queso and chips to start, while the night air begins to feel like fall.

Morning coffee read: Sinead embodied everything I knew growing up in NYC. She was beautiful, talented, smart and a little left of center. She was the anti-Madonna during the 80s. This is a great piece.

The mainstream narrative is that a pop star ripped up a photo of the pope on “Saturday Night Live” and derailed her life. What if the opposite were true?

I8tonite: I’ve had pizza from San Francisco to Phoenix, New York to Napoleon, and Chicago to Maimi, but King Dough’s hand tossed pies rank as one of the best. Owned by a young couple, the former garage renovated into a pie parlor thankfully survived the pandemic. It’s in part to glorious toppings and also a dedication for us to serving gluten-free flours. There is something for everyone and that is what the world needs.

The end of 2020 marks our 16 months in Indianapolis. The first six months for us were all about getting acclimated to the city. These included finding a dry cleaner, restaurants we liked, meeting our amazing neighbors (Abby! Eric!), and locating an excellent dog walker (Jessica!). Then came the pand...

Dear Friends and Neighbors, We scheduled a bi-weekly, volunteer clean-up of the historic Kennedy King Park with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. It will begin on Saturday, October 3 at 8:30 a.m and continue for an hour. This is not in conjunction with any other organization. It's meant to help keep this stunning green space maintained as the resources are limited in all urban areas throughout the country. It will only take a dozen hands for about an hour every two weeks to make it safe for everyone. Gloves, trash poles, and receptacles will be provided. Bring your family and friends. We will provide coffee and doughnuts.

In our continued search for the best of Indianapolis, we ordered a cake from The Cake Bake Shop in Broad Ripple. The massive three-tiered French-styled confection was a delicious, carrot cake topped with silk flowers. Moist, dense and thick cream cheese, butter creme frosting. Furthermore, the sugar castle, has a newer location in Carmel, smack dab in one of Indy’s trendsetting neighborhoods. Definitely a must so make reservation for an afternoon tea, a meal or a yummy treat.

Indianapolis rounded out LinkedIn.com's job report of great places to start your career. Coupled with a great cost of living, amazing cultural, and a growing culinary scene, who would argue? https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/top-15-us-cities-launch-your-career-george-anders/

Where can you start a career in sports marketing? A few months ago, Purdue senior Colin Burns was pursuing minor-league baseball opportunities as far as 900 miles from his northwest Indiana campus. Then he discovered his best opportunity was just an hour's drive away.

Want to eat an Indiana specialty? Recipe and a little history on the "Pork Tenderloin Sandwich." https://wonderindy.com/hoosier-cravings-how-to-eat-indiana-anywhere/

Over the centuries, a melting pot of immigrants, indigenous people, and access to different ingredients, such as chicken instead of pheasant, created delicious American regional cooking. For example, take the simplicity of Indiana's pork tenderloin sandwich, which bears a resemblance to a Tim Burton...

Meet Brandon Burdine, Indy's Boss Barber. His newest store will be in Bottleworks, a real estate development consisting of a hotel, retail and food hall in downtown Indianapolis.

Entrepreneur and barber Brandon Burdine and his dog, Niko in his downtown shop, Brick & Mortar. (Courtesy: Brick & Mortar.) We seek many things when moving to a new city.
