Christmas card from the Tank Corps of the British Army from 1917, during World War One, showing a Mark IV Tank with a crewman waving his cap in a greeting. In the right top corner is the Tank Corps crest with its’ battle honours – Somme, Ancre, Arras, Messines, 3rd Ypres and Cambrai.
This card is signed by Captain Elliot Hotblack. He was an intelligence officer who had belonged to the regiment since it was the Machine Gun Corps, which was the corps that later became the Tank Corps. Later on it changed name to the Royal Tank Corps, an then to the Royal Tank Regiment, which is its name today.

Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 3, "Eroica", was first performed privately on June 9, 1804, and officially for the first time on January 23, 1805. Beethoven originally dedicated this symphony to Napoleon, which he considered embodied the ideals of the French Revolution. In the autumn of 1804, however, Beethoven withdrew his dedication, because Napoleon had proclaimed himself emperor of France on the 14th of May that year, which Beethoven saw as a betrayal of the mentioned ideals.
