Our Safe Place

We were born not even a month apart into two small town families, families who lived not even a mile apart. We were raised in a tiny town, who most refer to as a fishing village, where words fly faster than birds. Just sayin’. Varnamtown, NC 33.9135 N, 78.3039W is the place where an unbrakeable friendship bloomed. We were introduced before we really knew what introductions were and how to handle those with social anxiety. It was birthday parties where we helped unwrap each other’s gifts that our interactions began. We rode the bus together K-12, sharing a bus seat for much of that time, doing silly things like flips over the seats and got away with it because Hayley’s mom was our bus driver...it was a nice perk. We were like sisters, inseperable, blonde hair, pony tails and Keds tennis shoes. Diaries, barbie dolls, sleepovers, paper dolls, bike rides, and fourwheeling were all a part of what we remember. Beach days filled with sunscreen, long walks to tell secrets and sand in every place imaginable was what made us smile and kept us awake at night with excitement. Elementary school turned into middle school, middle school became highschool, highschool followed by college rushed us into adulthood faster than lightening and sending us on different paths. Speaking of lightening, we both hated it and spent many moments with our heads buried in our parents chest, finding retreat from summer storms. Collectively we have so many memories, good ones, bad ones, in between ones; individually we have experiences that bent us, strained us as friends, tried us as women, but NEVER broke us as humans. It is because of our lives and the safe place that we found in our friendship, that we want to provide our listeners with good conversation, wisdom and the inside scoop on the power of unconditionional love and support.
