Why wait? Create Documenting my post apocalyptic journey into learning about and building my own CNC machine.

FINALLY! Video number 4 is here! Apologies it has taken me so long to finally re-film and edit, the last few weeks have been manic as a direct result of the XYZ Carve (as you'll see in the video).

Next video will be a tutorial taking a design from concept to creation :) If you have any questions or anything you'd like me to cover in detail, please let me know in the comments below. At these early stages I'm aiming to have a new video out each week or so.

For more information about these machines you can find out more at www.3dtek.xyz After a few people asking how else they can keep up to date on my build, I decided to setup on social with an account called 'Why Wait? Create!'. You can also follow me at: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmLDgy69EFLpqT7XhpeUcBQ?

Happy Saturday everyone! Apologies I’ve been quiet all week. After realising just how much dust the milling process creates, I spent the first half of the week tracking down all the bits needed to create an enclosure to keep the dust contained 🤓 after two days and a bit of trial & error, I’m really chuffed with a total build cost of around £150, a quarter of the cost for the ready made enclosure I was considering buying 🤯 just waiting on the Perspex for the windows and we’re ready to go 🤘

This is the third in a series of videos documenting my 3DTek XYZ Carve build, hopefully these will be useful if you're researching CNC machines or if you're looking to upgrade from an existing machine. The new x-rail arrived and I was able to continue with my machine build. With the machine now fully assembled, I’d estimate it’s probably taken me around 12 hours to build. I think if I had to build another one from scratch I could have it done within 6-8 hours or so, avoiding the silly mistakes I made the first time round.

Really impressed with the build quality so far, a really solid machine and it looks great. As mentioned in my first video the online instructions are superb and beyond that, Ryan @ 3DTek has been incredibly helpful with quick response times to minor queries. In my next video I’ll be getting it all setup and running, ready to cut my first ever test piece.

Assembled x-carriage for the 3DTek.xyz XYZ-carve which will eventually carry the Makita UK RT0700CX4 router. Excited to get this on the x-rail and see it slide 🎢

This arrived from 3DTek.xyz earlier this week 🤓 the build is coming along very nicely - video updates to follow 🎥 🔧
