Meet our first Black History Month highlight, Kaden Gaylord-Day!

Kaden Gaylord-Day is a sports reporter and anchor at WBKO. While at WKU he won an IBA award for best sports coverage. Gaylord-Day said, "Sports isn’t just about the play on the field or court, it’s about the human aspect and interest of it. The best stories are about the people."

He joined The Extra Point as a Junior but says he wishes he joined as a Freshman. Reflecting on his time at WKU, Gaylord-Day emphasized the pivotal role his professors played in his success: "Without the help of some of the best teachers in the country I wouldn’t be where I am today."

At WBKO, he was recognized with a KBA award for sports feature of the year.

Black History Month holds deep personal significance for him: "Over the years I’ve learned so much about pioneers in many industries and to learn about them has always been eye-opening." Inspired by icons like Stuart Scott, Gaylord-Day is committed to making a lasting impact.

To WKU students, Gaylord-Day advised, "Don’t close yourself off to anything. Some of the best experiences in my life have been doing things that I would never imagine myself doing."

He also highlighted the abundance of opportunities at WKU, "The broadcasting department at WKU are some of the most personable people you’ll ever meet... finding people who are willing to do anything and everything to help you get to where you want to be, you couldn’t ask for more."
