Israel’s unwinnable war: Holding both sides accountable
For a journalist who has covered conflicts and humanitarian crises for more than 40 years, what Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraq and a host of other conflicts have shown is that counterinsurgencies based on hubris and emotion rarely succeed. Nor do brutal military solutions lead to peace. If anything, they set the ground for even more determined long-term resistance whereby all guerrilla organizations need to do in order to win is not to lose. Paying more attention to the historic contexts of other “anti-terrorist” wars across the globe, but also holding those accountable on both sides, might help embrace a more realistic solution for peace between Israelis and the Palestinians. https://global-geneva.com/israels-unwinnable-war-holding-both-sides-accountable/
