I'm a firm believer that the more time we spend telling ourselves we are only our mistakes, failures, or shortcomings, the more mistakes, failures, and shortcomings we experience.

That story you're telling yourself is a lie. You're a human being worthy of love and deserving of a place in this world JUST BECAUSE!! You are a good person. Your mistakes, failures, or whatever happened to you in the past does not define who you are. Show yourself some kindness, get up, dust off, and move forward. ❤

SWIPEY-SWIPEY 👉 Here are 4 strategies you can use to reframe negative self-talk.

1️⃣ Catch yourself in the act.

Try to notice the way you talk to yourself internally. Bring awareness to the tone you use when conversing with yourself. Are you being an a$ ? Is that something you'd say to someone you love in the same situation? Sometimes repeating it out loud helps.

2️⃣ Turn statements into questions.

What if "I'm a failure. I knew I couldn't do it" became "It wasn't the result I desired but what can I do differently next time?" This allows your brain to dig into its problem-solving areas and treat negative thoughts with curiosity instead of fear.

3️⃣ Focus on making progress, even if it's really small.

Using affirmations like, "I am amazing and capable of anything," may not work for you if you don't fully, deeply believe that about yourself yet. Instead, start with self-talk statements that acknowledge where you're at and your positive growth, like "I am a work in progress, and that's ok. One step at a time."

4️⃣ Practice sitting with your discomfort.

Trading undesired or negative feelings for positivity can often suppress and trigger even stronger, undesired reactions. Rather than react to feeling down by trying to be uber positive, try to be with your heavy emotions. It will most likely be uncomfortable, but remind yourself that "negative" feelings are just low vibrational energy moving through the body and you are still safe.
