I got into this industry right as compassion fatigue (CF) became part of the conversation...I always felt there was something wrong about how it fit with my experience...It just never hit right because I never lost my ability to feel for the animals in my care, nor did I ever grow resentful of them. This new phrasing of this phenomena better encapsulates my lived experience...I really hope that it catches on sooner rather than later because this is the first time I've felt hope regarding this issue.
