To most, this is just a picture of a building. To me, it represents God’s faithfulness, His redemption, His Glory, and His timing.

To provide you with a quick backstory, I had been applying to jobs since this past summer, interviewing, and receiving many rejections. It was a season of life that was very discouraging. I was receiving an average of two to three rejection emails a day. I truly didn’t know what the next season of life would look like but of course, God already was ten steps ahead. In this season I had times of complete hopelessness in the sense of a career but I had faith that God had something bigger in store. I weirdly felt like he was going to bring this entire situation full circle. Spoiler Alert: He did.

In the summer of 2021, I worked as a teacher assistant at a Christian non-profit daycare and afterschool program. I enjoyed my time there, the kids, and the people I worked alongside. I also attended that very daycare when I was a little girl.

Right after a period this past fall where I was so busy driving back and forth from my college town I received a phone call. I submitted my resume to this same company in hopes of getting a part-time teacher position. The Executive director contacted me and invited me in for an interview for a position I completely forgot I applied to. It was a job posting I had seen on Indeed months earlier and thought “What do I have to lose?” A couple of days after my phone call with the executive director I went to the campus to interview. I am not going to lie, I didn’t have any expectations because of how poorly things had been going for me in terms of interviews. I walked in and saw some familiar faces and during the interview was reminded of my passion for kids and most of all sharing the gospel. Ten minutes after leaving that interview I got a call being offered the position of Assistant Director of Operations.

2024 is right around the corner BC Fam!!! ☻
This is the time of year that everyone around us seems to be brainstorming their New Year’s resolutions & setting goals for the upcoming 365 days.

“What do I want to accomplish this year?”
“How can I make more money this year?”
“What trips do I want to plan this year?”
“When should I aim to hit my goal weight?”
“How many books should I plan to read?”
“Should we adopt a new pet?”
“When should I aim to get a new car?”

A new year brings SO many opportunities to the forefront of our minds! It’s a very tangible fresh start for everyone & can be super exciting! While all of these thoughts above aren’t inherently bad, they are simply missing one thing. We should strive to ask these questions instead:

“What does God want to accomplish in my life this year?”
“How does the Lord want to use me this year?”
“What are some ways I can positively impact the Lord’s Kingdom this year?”
“What does Jesus have planned for our finances this year?”
“How does the Lord want to grow me this year?”

It is so so easy to default to asking the first set of questions!! I mean heck I wrote them for a reason, they were my thoughts!!!

I write this as a challenge for us to do together!! For us to shake off our fleshy default settings and focus on what is MOST important as we walk into 2024 which is:

WHAT DOES JESUS WANT THIS YEAR?!

May no gift ever be held higher in your heart than this one. Not only is Christ our wonderful counselor, the mighty God, the everlasting Father, & the Prince of Peace but He maintains these titles every single day of the year. Talk about the gift that keeps on giving!! Our prayer for you today is that you reflect on the unimaginably generous gift of our Lord God sending His son to earth to be among us all.
