Applications for PeopleForBikes’ 2023 Industry Community Grants are now open!

We know that safe and accessible bike infrastructure is critical to helping people of all ages and abilities enjoy bicycling in their communities. With the goal of helping more projects get over the finish line, PeopleForBikes is proud to announce the opening of our 2023 Industry Community Grant applications.

PeopleForBikes is looking to fund:
➡️ Investments that build or result in permanent physical infrastructure such as protected bike lanes, neighborhood greenways/bike boulevards, bike paths, pump tracks, bike parks, recreational trail systems, or public bike parking.
➡️ Investments in temporary physical infrastructure, such as “quick-build projects” that demonstrate potential infrastructural improvements that are intended to eventually result in permanent infrastructure.
➡️ Support for organizing efforts or cultural initiatives that build support for specific bike infrastructure projects. Such proposals must show how the support will result in permanent infrastructural improvements.

PeopleForBikes’ industry grants range from $5,000 to $10,000 and our priority is to support efforts where grants of that magnitude make a difference, especially in support of communities impacted by historic disinvestment. Visit the link to learn more about our 2023 Industry Community Grants and submit a letter of interest today!

Hello Neighbor!

I am reaching out to let you know that we will be having our first community listening session workshop for The Greenway this Thursday, July 27th. There will be two opportunities to attend the workshop.

Newark North Library 722 Summer Ave, Newark, NJ, 07104 (10am to 12pm)

Roller Skating Night!

Branch Brook Park 7th Ave & Clifton Ave, Newark, NJ 07104 (6pm to 8pm)

(All ages and abilities are welcome. There will be free admission and free food at the Roller Skating Night!)

You may already be familiar with this project – The Greenway is a nine-mile rail-to-trail park that will serve New Jersey’s Essex and Hudson Counties. It is currently in the planning stage and the first segment is targeted to open in 2025. When complete,The Greenway will provide new outdoor recreation opportunities and a fun new way to get around town. It will help reduce flooding, improve animal habitat, and it will serve as a catalyst for economic development in the adjacent communities.

This project is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and these workshops are your chance to voice your ideas and aspirations for the Greenway! There will be many more opportunities to share your vision for the Greenway in your community and all along the greenway this summer. To find out more about ways to share your ideas, please visit our website or leave us a voicemail at 908-340-6611.

For translation services or ADA accommodations, contact [email protected].

Feel free to circulate the attached flyer within your networks! Our team hopes to see you at the listening workshops!

Best,

Priti
