Teaching my puppies to stay calm while I hold them is one of my favorite things to teach them, not just for puppyhood, but for when they’re adults. It comes in handy for safety, related to things like injuries, loading them into vehicles, or just stopping them from doing something they shouldn’t be. At 8, I can still pick Jet up and he’ll be a limp noodle for as long as I’d like.

What are some of the behaviors you’ve taught your puppies that maybe weren’t intentional, but have been exceptionally helpful for adulthood?
