Naira Marley sends message of warning to all âMarliansâ
Naira Marley has sent a message of warning to his fans, who are known as Marlians.
A lot has been said about the Marlians â some of them in jest and some as criticisms. Marlians are considered as people who do not live by the rules but make their own rules. This has begun posing a problem recently as some young people have gotten themselves in trouble as a result.
Real Madrid to offer James Rodriguez in deal for Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz
While Real are said to be among a number of teams who hold an interest in the Spaniard, it is unclear whether they are prepared to meet Napoliâs asking price.
However, according to reports in Spain, Los Blancos are willing to offer the Italian outfit the chance to sign Rodriguez, who is out of favour at the Bernabeu.
Three killed in Lagos brutal NURTW, gang clashes, 75 arrested
guardian.ng
Scene of the incident
At least one person was yesterday confirmed dead after suspected cultists went on rampage around Pako, Yeside and Cassette bus stops in Aguda, Surulere area of Lagos State. This came a day after Sundayâs cult war in Ilasa, which claimed another life.
Also, two persons have died and scores of residents injured when members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) clashed in Lagos yesterday. Of the two killed during the ongoing clash was a chairman of a unit in Ijesha, Surulere axis.
The police spokesman, Bala Elkana said police teams from the Special Strike Force on Social Miscreants, Rapid Response Squad, Area C Command Surulere, Aguda and Ijesha Divisions were mobilised to the scene and the situation brought under control, adding that â75 suspects from both sides were arrested.â
It was gathered that the incident started in the early hours of Monday when some group of boys trooped from Mushin to Aguda and started shooting gunshots sporadically in an apparent attempt to call out their rivals.
An eyewitness, Felix Ogwezi, told The Guardian: âWe initially thought it was a robbery incident. But we later heard that they were cult members. We all had to run for our lives. We understand that the fight is between two cult groups but we appeal to the Lagos State government to deploy able combatant security operatives to these troubled spots and stop these unnecessary deaths over gang wars.
A source simply referred to as Ohammiri revealed that one person was killed in the violence before the police team of detectives arrived at the scene. âThe men involved in the violence used guns and broken bottles as they attacked each other. The fight was between Mushin boys and Aguda boys. Aguda boys were allegedly fighting to establish dominance after Mushin boys invaded their territory.â
She added that the policemen drafted from the neighbourhood police stations could not control the gangs but the violence was later brought under control when SARS and RSS team arrived at the scene, by which time one person had been shot dead.
It was gathered that the hoodlums vandalised and looted a truck carrying crates of beers to one shop in the area.
Reacting to the incident, the Special Adviser, Information and Strategy to the council chairman, Lanre Oguntoyinbo, said the unrest, which occurred in the Pako area of Surulere, a boundary area between Coker/Aguda LCDA and Itire/Ikate LCDA, has been brought under control.
In the other development, it was gathered that the clash over who controls NURTW in Ijesha started on Sunday night between factional members of the transport union, leaving residents to panic and scamper for safety. The clash, according to a member of the NURTW, was orchestrated by one of the unit chairman, who aimed to overthrow the incumbent Ijesha branch chairman.
The PPRO, Elkana confirmed that two people were killed in the clash, which began on Sunday. According Elkana, on December 15, at about 11:41 a.m. police received a distress call that there was a gun shot at Pako, Aguda Canal. On getting to the scene, police found the body of one Alagodo âmâ 27 years old, a follower of one Eluku who is currently in prison over violent crimes.
âOn December 16, at about 08:30 a.m. some hoodlums from Ijesha, in what looks like a revenge mission stormed Aguda in large numbers with cutlasses, bottles and stone and other dangerous weapons. The hoodlums destroyed about 22 shops and vandalised some vehicles. Some hoodlums from Aguda equally reacted. One of the hoodlums from Aguda known as Timileyin Odulana was injured by the hoodlums from Ijesha. He was rushed to Military Hospital, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead,â he said.
I NEVER told John Bolton that the aid to Ukraine was tied to investigations into Democrats, including the Bidens. In fact, he never complained about this at the time of his very public termination. If John Bolton said this, it was only to sell a book. With that being said,- Donald Trump, US President.
Court Sentences Lagos Prince to Death for Murder
thisdaylive.com
Akinwale Akintunde
Justice Raliatu Adebiyi of an Ikeja High Court has sentenced to death, Prince Adewale Oyekan, the son of the late Oba of Lagos, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan, for the murder of Alhaja Sikirat Ekun, a 62-year-old businesswoman and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Prince Oyekan, 50, was sentenced to death alongside Lateef Balogun, 27, a former domestic staff of the deceased, who was hired for N6,000 to carry out the murder of his employer.
The convicts who have been in custody for seven years, murdered Ekun by strangling her and throwing her co**se into a 1,000-feet well located in her home.
Delivering judgment yesterday, Justice Adebiyi held that the prosecution has proved the charges of conspiracy to commit murder and murder beyond reasonable doubt.
âThe circumstantial evidence was strong and cogent, the act of the defendants in killing the deceased was intentional and premeditated.
âThe court finds that the prosecution has proved beyond reasonable doubt the offence of conspiracy and murder and are accordingly found guilty of the two-count charge.
âSection 221 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011 stipulates the punishment for the offence of murder as follows. Subject to the provisions of any other law, a person who commits the offence of murder shall be sentenced to death.
âSame is the punishment for conspiracy to commit murder as contained in Section 231 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
âThe above-cited provisions of the law does not give the court any discretion whatsoever in sentencing the defendants.
âFor this reason, the first and second defendants are hereby sentenced accordingly on each of count one and two to death by hanging. May God the giver of life have mercy on your soul.â
The state prosecution led by Mr. Akin George had said the convicts committed the offences at 1a.m. on Oct. 17, 2012 at the home of the deceased located at No. 5, Babatunde Lalega St., Omole Phase One, Lagos.
According to the prosecution, the deceased was a restaurateur who knew Oyekan due to her friendship with his late mother.
To render assistance to the prince, Ekun employed him as the manager of her restaurant.
âBalogun, the second defendant, was a former domestic staff of Ekun who was employed by her to take care of her elderly father. His employment was however terminated following a dispute with Ekun.
âThe convicts conspired, killed the deceased and threw her co**se in a well within the premises of her home and took over her businesses and property, including her bus, which was sold for N170,000.
âWhen any enquiry was made by family and friends about her whereabouts, Oyekan informed them that she had traveled to Abuja for the Ileya (Id el Kabir) festival. He passed this information by sending a text message from Ekunâs mobile phone.
âFollowing panic and worry from members of Ekunâs family and after an extensive search, her co**se was found two months later in December 2012 by well diggers and fire fighters.
âThe convicts had placed a generator, a gas cylinder and other household items on the co**se to conceal it in the 1,000 feet well,â he said.
The trial at the High Court began on April 14, 2015, five witnesses including police officers, Mr. Iyiola Olaniyi, the nephew of the deceased and Mrs. Folashade Amurun, the only child of the deceased, testified on behalf of the prosecution.
Oyekan and Balogun, testified in their defence, while testifying, the convicts both denied knowing each other, noting that they met for the first time at the police station. They also denied committing the offence.
Oyekan in his evidence said that he met Ekun who was a friend of his mother at a PDP rally in 2011 after he had returned from the United States of America after obtaining a degree in architecture.
He said he met the deceased thereafter at her home where she offered to assist him by employing him to manage her restaurant.
Barcelona set to make an incredibly good offer for Kylian Mbappe
Barcelona have thought about making a ridiculously good offer to Paris Saint-Germain for signing Kylian Mbappe in the next summer.
Barcelona captain Lionel Messi may have lifted his sixth Ballon dâOr this week, but whatâs certain is that with age catching up, he is slowing down and the Blaugrana need to replace him soon. In a list of only a handful of players who are capable of doing so as per the club, Kylian Mbappe is the spearhead and will be an absolutely expensive signing.
Fox Sports has now reported that the Blaugrana will propose a smashing offer for the Paris Saint-Germain forward in the upcoming summer. Aside of a 120 million euros in cash, Ernesto Valverdeâs side will offer France international forwards Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele to the Ligue 1 giants in a bid to land Mbappeâs signature.
Antoine Griezmann arrived into the Camp Nou just this summer for 120 million euros from Atletico Madrid, but has failed to settle at his new club and apparently does not have Lionel Messiâs trust. As a result, Barca will look to get rid of him within just one year of his signing by sending him to his home country in a much easier league.
Kylian Mbappe on the other hand has been thought as a rightful successor to Lionel Messi as well as Cristiano Ronaldo and Paris Saint-Germain value him at 300 million euros. The French giants are thought to be in contact with Real Madrid already with a move to Spainâs capital looking increasingly likely for Mbappe than Barcelona, who were never really in the race.
La Ligaâs defending champions are certainly very ambitious of beating their rivals to the signing of the World Cup winner, but their offer is too good for anyone. While PSG would happily accept it, Barca would have overpaid for a player even of Mbappeâs calibre with that kind of money and thus, they should restructure it before officially sending it out.
