How should you be repurposing your content? 🧐

For the best results, you want to start with long form content like a blog post (at least 500 words) or a podcast or video (at least 10-15 minutes). If you’re starting with the latter, then you’ll want to create a transcript first so you have text to pull from. Then you can repurpose it with one (or more!) of these ideas:

✅ Turn blogs into social media captions
✅ Turn content into a video
✅ Turn blog posts into infographics
✅ Pull short quotes out of blog posts
✅ Turn quotes into social media graphics
✅ Turn blog posts into an ebook
✅ Create multi-page Instagram stories
✅ Transcribe podcasts and videos
✅ Break videos into short clips

And there are so many more ways!

Growing Your Followers on Pinterest 📈

To grow your followers on Pinterest, there are a few different strategies. In the beginning, you will most likely need to follow other people in your niche and some of those people will naturally follow you back, but I will caution you to NOT follow hundreds of people all at once or start pinning a ton in the beginning.

If your account is new, ease your way into these suggestions so you can play it safe. Also, you’re only following relevant accounts you actually want to be following, not just random accounts.

After a few months of regular activity, however, you may want to follow 50-75 people per month (along with pinning fresh content) to maximize your account growth. At a certain point, you will start to gain Pinterest followers organically and won't need to be as active.

A newer way to grow your Pinterest followers is with idea pins! Similar to Reels, these can be used either as short form videos or image slideshows. Although they’re not directly linkable, they can help you grow your reach and followers on Pinterest and build up a new or established account.

How to Double Your Results from Pinterest! 💯

First you'll want to go into your Pinterest analytics to get an idea of which pins are doing well. You can also check the stats on an individual pin to see the impressions, saves, and clicks. And if you have Google Analytics installed on your blog (which I recommend!), then you’ll know which blog posts are popular and getting the most pageviews.

If you DON’T already have pins for all of your top 10 blog posts, go create beautiful pins for them and pin them to a niche-specific personal board.

Next, see which of your pins are doing the best. Now, I want you to create a second (or third, or fourth...) pin image for these popular pins.

WHAT? Yes, you can create more than one graphic for a blog post and effectively double the results from a blog post or pin that’s already doing well. You can also try creating an infographic version of a popular blog post because those usually get a higher reach on Pinterest.

You can also try changing up the colors, fonts, photos, headline, or image size to see if a certain style performs better.

Although you could absolutely do this for all your blog posts, I’d recommend starting with the top 10 or 20 pins or blog posts and creating a second pin image just to maximize the results you get for the time you put in.

Try it! It's well worth your time to duplicate your successes and focus on the 20% of your pins or posts that are driving 80% of your results, traffic, or sales.

What size should Pinterest images be? 🖼

Pinterest usually recommends a 2:3 ratio, which would be either 600 by 900 pixels (their older recommended size) or 1000 by 1500 pixels (their newer recommended size).

But sometimes pins that are actually a lot longer than what Pinterest recommends, sometimes called giraffe pins or long pins, will do better than their standard guidelines (although really long pins will get cut off at a certain point). So you can definitely try things out for yourself and change it up.

While you're creating your fresh pins and keeping Pinterest happy by uploading new content, you can also be split testing things and trying out different styles and fonts and headlines to see what works the best for your account.

[A Pinterest SEO strategy to get your pins seen!] 👀

👉 One way to get people to see your content in the first place on Pinterest is with a strong keyword strategy.

Where can you put keywords? Well, everywhere! A keyword is something that a person can search on Pinterest (you can try searching for possible keywords on the Pinterest search to see what comes up) OR someone might see your pin as a related or suggested pin because based on the keywords, Pinterest believes it's similar to someone else's pin.

👉 You have to think about Pinterest as a search engine so you can make it as easy as possible for people to find your content. Although Pinterest has technology that tries to "see" what the visual content of your pin is and show related content, you'll get a much better reach if you write descriptions and titles for things that are as obvious as possible.

👉 For example, if you have a pin about Boston cream pie and your whole account is about recipes and baking, then Pinterest can try to look at your pin to see what it's about using the "Pinterest Lens," but the technology isn't 100% there. Plus, sometimes we use stock photos of unrelated items for blog posts that don't have a super obvious visual (like using photos of desks and laptops for a post about marketing).

How to Get Started with Pinterest Marketing 📌

If you haven't created a Pinterest account yet and gotten set up with the basics, you'll want to do that. I would recommend creating a Pinterest business account so you can have benefits like analytics and access to promoted pins in case you ever want to advertise, and also set up Rich Pins.

You'll want to create several different personal boards for your account based on your particular industry or niche and fill with with both your own pins (images that link to your blog posts) and other people's pins. Make sure all of your boards are relevant to your target audience, and keep personal boards (like Hair Goals) secret. 😉

You'll also want to get set up with a Pinterest scheduler like Tailwind to make your life a lot easier!

There are also a few general Pinterest marketing tips that all accounts can benefit from. For example, you can include keywords in your title / website name on Pinterest and also all of your board and pin descriptions in order to help people find you.

Although Pinterest can sometimes be considered a social media site, it is also a visual search engine because the main point of the site is to find new links, posts, and images rather than a big emphasis on social interaction. In recent years, however, Pinterest has added new features like idea pins that make it more like other social media sites.

When working on your Pinterest account, you can think of it as like optimizing everything for a search engine like you might do with Google, but with Pinterest, you also have the benefit of using visuals to draw people in.

Marketing your business might look a little like this pyramid (or upside down for a sales funnel).

The widest part is your general content marketing that draws people in, things like blog posts or social media posts. This is the part where you’re starting to reach new people with your valuable content.

Next is lead generation and opt-in offers. You might direct people to a landing page where they can sign up for your freebie in exchange for their email address.

Once on your email list, you continue to nurture the relationship and provide value through regular emails and content.

And from there, you can make offers to work with you one-on-one or buy one of your paid products or programs.

And boom, that’s how a sales funnel works. 🤯
