Quickly Photographed and Released Unharmed light installation illuminates the Art & History Museum Brussels during Bright Festival 2024.

Quickly Photographed and Released Unharmed is a reflection on our visually overstimulated environment. The artist seeks to create a direct experience with light and sound, using the screen as a medium rather than a representational canvas. The screen becomes a source of light, inducing after-images in the viewer's vision through the rapid succession of light and colour. This optical superimposition means that the light patterns perceived by the eye and the brain complement the visual material presented on the screen. By exploiting the neural mechanisms underlying visual perception, the viewer becomes an integral part of the work of art, both observer and creator.

Bright Festival is a part of the official cultural programme of Belgium's Presidency of the Council of the European Union in 2024. This work is one of a series of light installations presented and financed to mark this Presidency.

MOONARIS Audiovisual Installation

The title Moonaris refers to the Copernican idea of observing the sky, exploring outer space, and discovering the unknown. It also suggests – following the vision of the science fiction writer, Stanisław Lem – to imagine the seemingly unimaginable, for example: the future development of the surface of the Moon, which may actually become reality in our lifetime.

The artwork was commissioned by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute in Warsaw.

Παλμός α' (Vibration) is part of the Παλμός (palmós) collection of generative audiovisual artworks by Pandelis Diamantides.

Meaning 'pulse', 'heartbeat' in Greek, Παλμός (palmós) is a collection of three generative audiovisual artworks by Pandelis Diamantides. The artworks contextualise the heart as a metaphor for emotion, and the notion of vibration as a connecting element between physical, biological, and social activity.

As a strategy of coping with the stress of social isolation during the Covid-19 pandemic, the artist observed and measured his own heartbeat and breath rhythm at regular intervals. By observing his own body reactions, becoming conscious of the connection between his own pulse and that of the world, the artist retained a feeling of togetherness during the continuous lockdowns.

Data collected from a single vibration, Παλμός α'(A vibration), a beating heart, Παλμός β' (A heartbeat), and the amount of movement of the crowd around a social point of interest, Παλμοί (Pulses), are used to navigate the parameters of bespoke software for artistic creation. For the new collection Παλμός (palmós), that was recently launched on Sedition, you collected and used data from your own heartbeat and breath rhythm. Could you talk a bit about the inspiration behind this work? What ideas did you intend to explore?

Παλμός (palmós) translates to 'pulse', a 'heartbeat'. The art collection contextualises the heart as a metaphor for emotion, and the notion of vibration as a connecting element between physical, biological, and social activity. Data collected from a single vibration, a beating heart, and the amount of movement of the crowd around a social point of interest, are used to navigate the parameters of bespoke software for artistic creation. The result is a collection of three works that explores the universal experience of cardiac activity in response to thought, emotion, and movement. Successfully completed and presented an immersive 360° surround audio music composition / fulldome video projection for the Al Wasl Dome at Expo 2020 Dubai.

The prime material of the music composition consists of deconstructed human voices, physical instruments and field recordings collected on the island of Cyprus.

The immersive 360° surround audio setup was simulated off side with custom software developed in Cycling '74 Max. Sound was sculpted using Ableton Live in sync with visual content created in Derivative TouchDesigner.

With a domed trellis of 130 meters in diameter and a height of 67.5 meters, Al Wasl Dome is one of the largest 360° projection surfaces in the world featuring a unique 27. 1 channels 360° surround audio system. The fully immersive projection is driven by 16 different media servers, outputting to 252 projectors and 2530 LED lights.

Made in collaboration with CYENS Centre of Excellence ITICA Multidisciplinary Research Group for the celebration of the national day of the Republic of Cyprus at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Next Month in Madrid - A series of concerts offering a unique immersive experience at the Madrid Planetarium

presents a series of shows curated by where music merges with digital art to offer a unique immersive experience. A space as unusual as the Madrid Planetarium will host a sonic journey where music accompanies visual projections adapted to its 360º dome.

The first of the Música en Órbita sessions will be given by the French and Cypriot multimedia artists and , who premiere in Spain 'Drowning', an audiovisual composition based on the sensations caused by drowning. The piece explores the physicality of sound, a vibration that spreads like a wave of audible pressure, and which will push the audience deeper and deeper.

The second session of Música en Órbita continues with the exploration of the artistic possibilities of a 360º dome like the one in the Planetarium, in an original immersive experience, this time by in collaboration with Peruvian visual artist .g.u.e.v.a.r.a . Aurora Cerebralis' is a journey inside our brain, an audiovisual and artistic representation of how our neuronal connections work. A show that, inspired by the studies of psychologist and neuroscientist Tatiana Chernogovskya, premieres for the first time in Spain. Ambient and low-pulsation techno sounds that mutate with Guevara's 3D art, offering an immersive journey that, beyond the mind, ends up becoming an existentialist proposal. .es
