Do you struggle with emotions as a ministry leader? Here are seven things you can do to become an emotionally strong leader.

1. Be proactive.
Learn to take control of your emotions instead of just giving up and saying, "This is just who I am." Push into trying to grow in this area.

2. Stop feeling sorry for yourself.
It's so easy for ministry leaders to feel like they are in a rut. Sometimes we need to take that 24hr rule to feel bad and eat some ice cream, but after that, we need to move on and keep believing we are strong.

3. Don't allow others to control you.
This is hard for many ministry leaders. We want everyone to like us, but we can't continue letting people control us. How? By putting ourselves in situations where we are uncomfortable enough to push back and grow stronger.

4. Save your energy on things you can control.
Have you looked outside? Did you tell the sun to shine or make the rain fall? Nope. Just like the weather. There are things we cannot control. We can't prevent people and how they act or treat us. We can only control how we work and what we say.

5. Stop making the same mistakes.
Remember the verse that says a man will look in the mirror but must remember what he looks like? Don't be that leader. Try to learn from your mistakes and continue to grow. You may need to know this repeatedly until you finally get it.

6. Don't let the highs and lows control you.
There are always highs in ministry and lows. We cannot let them control us. The best thing we can do is focus on celebrating or allowing ourselves to have a pity party for 24hrs before moving on. We limit our emotions to a specific period during these times.

7. Appreciate and grow through your struggles.
Be thankful that you can grow and learn from your mistakes. Learn to be grateful you get to keep spreading God's Word and building His Kingdom through what you go through daily.
