Resident magistrate Mbuywana Sinvula issued the bench warrant yesterday on the politician after he missed court sessions. The bench warrant is returnable next week, March 27.

This is in a case Tayali is accused of expressing or showing hatred, ridicule or contempt for persons because of race after he claimed that “Bembas are useful idiots” about January 26 last year.

Tayali, who was live on his page on Saturday, is also appearing in other courts for using language inciting mutiny and accusing Chief Mukuni of being behind the 2020 gassing incidents in the country.

POLITICALLY-INCLINED COPS FACE BOOT

The Zambia Police Service command has embarked on a vigorous exercise of flashing out of its system ‘ju**ie officers’ [politically inclined] who were recruited in the previous regime and have refused to reform and align themselves to the code of ethics.

In an interview, Inspector-General of Police Graphel Musamba regrets that some police officers have opted to remain loyal to past leaders and are proving to be rebellious despite being given several chances to reform.

Mr Musamba said plans to have most ‘cadre’ police officers re-trained have failed due to lack of funds to support the programme.

He said the service has instead been providing the rebel officers with adequate counsel to help them reform, an olive branch they have deliberately refused to embrace.

“We have not had funds to have ju**ie police officers who were employed under the PF government undergo training. What we are doing now is charging them and flushing them out of the system; they are being kicked out of the system immediately in the absence of re-training because they do not want to reform.

“Especially, those people that we term as young officers who haven’t attained a probation period to stay longer in the police, we are recommending them for termination of employment because they are not relevant to our ideals,” Mr Musamba said.

4 SUSPECTED WIZARDS KILLED BY MOB

Four people have been killed in Chifunabuli after a mob descended on them on allegations of practising witchcraft.

Chifunabuli District Commissioner Stanley Mukosa identified the four as Jack Malisawa, 44, of Konikalila village, Augustine Bemba, 37, of Mwana Chanda village, Ngosa Mbukano, 42, of Malunga village, and Lengwe Kafupi, 32, of Nkufu village, all
on Chishi island.

“I can confirm that four people have been killed by a mob following a riot in the area. This is on allegations of practising witchcraft,” he said.

Mr Mukosa said on Monday, islanders descended on Kafupi accusing him of being behind the crocodile attack which occurred on Saturday in which a woman was killed.

He said the mob in the process killed Lengwe and burnt him and looted his shop and later went on to kill Bemba and finally killed Mbukano and Malisawa who were later buried by the same mob.

Mr Mukosa revealed that the mob fled the island after they heard that police had come in the area.

Police have since managed to apprehend Boniface Mwaba, 70, to help with investigations.

He said three burial sites have since been visited and the graves have been marked for possible exhumation.

Mr Mukosa said police are still on the island.

A 22-year-old man of Mambwe has been sentenced to life imprisonment with hard labour for axing his one-and-half-year-old stepchild to death for allegedly eating too much food in his house.

Justin Mtonga, of Sign farms under Chief Jumbe, axed his stepson, Laston Mbewe, on the head and dumped his body on the road in September 2023 after accusing him of having too much appetite.

Mtonga denied the charge of murder before Lusaka-based High Court Judge Koreen Zimba.

National Prosecution Authority (NPA) senior state advocate Nchimunya Mkombwe called
four witnesses to prove the case of murder against Mtonga.

During trial, his wife Misozi Banda told the court that her husband did not like her child
and always complained that he was eating too much food.

Banda testified that her husband would refer to his stepson as a dog because he was
eating too much.

“Before we got married, he promised to take care of me and my child but when we got
married, he started complaining that the child was eating too much,” she said.

“He would call him a dog sometimes because
of the same reason of eating too much.”

Jeff Sitali , who is also known as 'Mr Colgate' for his 80's Colgate advert is believed to have decided to clean his yard after realising it had too much dry grass , so he went to buy some matches.

Before starting the fire,he is also believed to have created fire breakers which would help prevent the fire from burning down his house.

But when he lit the fire, he got choked from the smoke and fell on the fire meant to clean up the yard.

Concerned community members noticed a huge cloud of smoke and fire coming from his yard and decided to investigate.

When they jumped up his wall fence, they found the victim burnt and in a sitted position .

The victim informed that his yard had a lot of dry grass and needed to put fire breakers in his yard to prevent his house from burning down," he said.

Mr Mweemba said from there the victim proceeded home and lit the dry grass which was behind the house/studio and it is suspected that the deceased got choked from the smoke and fell in the fire.

"On lookers saw a huge fire in the same yard and got concerned so they went to assist by jumping the wall fence in an effort of putting off the fire. From there they discovered the dead burnt body of the deceased and subsequently the matter was reported at the police station," he said.

BUSINESSMAN Shaderick Kasanda has been arrested by law enforcement agencies in connection with fresh charges to be imposed on him.

This came to light this afternoon when the case involving Kasanda and 10 others was called before the Lusaka Magistrate's Court.

Mr Kasanda and 10 others are charged with Espionage and are appearing before Lusaka chief resident magistrate Davies Chibwili.

But when the case was called, State advocate Gracilia Mulenga informed the court that all the accused were in court apart from Mr Kasanda who had just been arrested.

"I did receive a call and I have just been informed that the sixth accused person has been picked up by the law enforcement agencies. I am yet to get full details on some other charges," Ms Mulenga said.

Defence lawyer Makebi Zulu then asked the person who arrested his client be cited for contempt of court.

"In our view, that is contemptuous of this court because there was an order that all the accaued should be before you.

"The law enforcement agencies cannot defy that order especially that they are fully aware that the accaued was to be before you. The prudent thing would have been to wait for these proceedings to take off and there after carry on with their work. In the absence of accused six, these proceedings can't continue.," Mr Zulu said.

Magistrate Chibwili said if contempt of court proceedings were to be instituted, a person who is supposed to be cited needs to be known.

The court had since adjourned the case briefly.

Luanshya man dies after attempted diesel theft

FATE took a tragic turn for a 20-year-old man from Luanshya's Mpatamatu township, who lost his life while attempting to flee from a mining dumpsite where he and two friends had gone to steal diesel.

Diston Kasiba, along with his companions Elshadai Chola, 19, and Joseph Mulenga, 25, made the ill-fated decision last Sunday evening to pilfer diesel from the premises of Dump 5, a mining company owned by China (MCC).

Unbeknownst to them, their diesel theft would lead to a devastating outcome, claiming one of their lives.

After successfully siphoning three containers of diesel, the trio decided to embark on their journey home to Mpatamatu by hitching a ride on the mining company's Sino truck.

They loaded the stolen fuel containers onto the excavator bucket and positioned themselves atop it.

Subsequently, the excavator operator raised the bucket into the Sino truck.

However, before they could dismount the excavator bucket and transition to the Sino truck, the operator, who was part of the trio, noticed a Chinese individual approaching the truck.

This prompted the operator to hastily drive the truck.

Amidst the commotion, one of Kasiba's friends managed to leap onto the Sino truck, while Kasiba was not as fortunate.

The collision between the bucket and the rear door of the Sino truck resulted in injuries to Kasiba.

He suffered a deep cut on his arm and suspected internal injuries.

Despite being rushed to Roan General Hospital, Kasiba was pronounced dead upon arrival.

The victim's mother promptly reported the incident to the police.

Copperbelt commanding officer, Peacewell Mweemba confirmed the occurrence.

PwC director gets 20 years' simple jail term for killing wife

A judge yesterday sentenced Pricewaterhouse Coopers (PwC) director Tonderai Luwisi to 20 years' simple imprisonment for killing his wife, Palegia Muregwi. He stabbed her several times following an altercation at the victim's house in Lusaka's Jesmondine.

After the verdict was passed, Palegia's mother, Patricia Muregwi, who is a reverend, told journalists while holding back tears that she expected the court to jail her son-in-law to life imprisonment for brutally killing her daughter.

But Ms. Muregwi, who was being comforted by her husband, Patrick Muregwi, said she had forgiven Mr. Luwisi.

The bereaved family will leave it to God to be the ultimate judge. She admitted that it was heart-aching that the convict brutally killed her daughter, whom he had been cheating on with different women until she left him.

Her husband, who is also a cleric, said the family has moved on. "We simply commit this matter into the hands of God. It is God who judges righteously. So, it's now in the past. We are moving ahead," he said after reading 1 Peter 2:21.

Earlier, Lusaka High Court Judge Bonaventure Mbewe found Mr. Luwisi guilty of murder and convicted him. The court earlier dismissed the convict's defense of provocation because he could have walked away or fled after being provoked by his wife. "He instead grabbed the knife and stabbed her," the judge said.

The court also found that after committing the act, some incriminating messages were found on his phone in which he informed his 17-year-old son that he had killed the mother and "himself". The judge also quoted a long WhatsApp message the convict had written to his son, detailing how sorry he was and urging him to access his properties and accounts to fend for himself and his younger sister.

The court noted the convict's mitigation and that he has now learned that he should not violently resolve disputes. Judge Mbewe also noted that from the WhatsApp message he had written to his son, the convict cared for his two children.

Furthermore, he noted the provocative words used by his wife, who told the convict that he is useless and that she had found a better man to take care of her. And that their two beautiful children were not his.

"In our African culture, these words emasculate a man but the words were only said between the two of you," Judge Mbewe said, adding that the accused should have controlled his emotions.

During his defense, the convict told the court that he stabbed his wife during a brutal fight after she told him that he did not father their two children. He said he felt betrayed and heartbroken to hear that the children he had broken his back for, to ensure they never lacked in their 18 years of existence, were not his.

The 45-year-old Zimbabwean was accused of murdering his 38-year-old wife on December 10, 2022, around 18:00 hours in a fight after she learned of his infidelity.

TRUTH VS LIES

I have taken note of a number of statements, articles and interviews made by my dear brother, Dr. Fred M'membe of the Socialist Party. The statements are all based on our recent tour of duty to Zimbabwe under THE SADC ELECTORAL OBSERVATION MISSION.

I note that Mr. MMEMBE, rather than comment on the actual emperical and scientific findings of our report, has gone to great lengths to issue unsupported, unsubstantiated, untrue, cunningly devised stories and conspiracy theories attacking the Integrity of myself, His Excellency the President of Zambia Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, and many other persons including SADC and the EU.

I wish to state that I will be responding to the many points he raises in the interest of defending the truth from the war of lies that he has chosen to wage.

I will specifically deal with the following issues:

1. LIE NUMBER 1.
Mr. M’membe believes that anyone who does not agree with him on an exclusively socialist agenda should be labeled as "puppets and agents of westen imperialism"

2. LIE NUMBER 2
Mr. M'membe wishes to create an impression that certain Observer Mission Reports looked similar and so they must have been plagiarized or doctored by the same person. He forgets to mention that these things have standards. Just like in Accounting, different Audit firms will independently produce Audit Reports but they all look similar because accountants use similar templates to ensure that Financial Statements and the accompanying Audit reports are consistent and comparable between periods and countries and firms. Infact, this also holds true for laboratory reports, SPECIALIZED engineering reports, and legal reports have standards in how they are to be presented. This is perfectly normal. I am sure Mr. M'membe knows this well. But, he also has a dark, manipulative side to him that compels him to deliberately choose to misinform those who may not be too familiar with such reporting standards. He convincingly claims that the similarity in presentation between the EU report and the SADC report is "suspicious." Why has he removed the other two reports, which also followed the same or similar presentation style? Does Mr M'membe really find it strange that the SADC and EU reports BOTH give an Exception Report?. Anyone with experience in these things will tell you that the mere fact that there is a strong degree of agreement and correlation in the two reports and in all four shows that the findings must be objective. Again, he doesn't say this but he cleverly says the similarity in reports means they were doctored.

3. LIE NUMBER 3
Mr. M’membe is becoming desperate in selling a dangerous lie that the current President of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema was in fact installed by agents of western Interests. But he forgets to deal with glaring facts such as, Did HH vote for himself? We all saw people turn out in huge numbers to cast their votes, and even then, the victory came through a very, very difficult process and series of challenges. Fred M'membe must not be allowed to steal the people's victory and effort and, in a perfect act of manipulation, turn the peoples victory into what he shamelessly refers to as an 'act of puppet installation by some invisible hand from the west"

4. LIE NUMBER 4
Fred M'membe has no data about this election. This is why he has failed to address any of the technical issues raised in the reports. Instead, he has taken advantage of the reading culture of our people, and started calling everyone who stands for freedoms and who stands for a fair electoral process as "puppets of the west." This is despite the fact that since 1991, Zambia maintains a clearly articulated position of enganging with all countries regardless of whether they are from the west, or the east in pursuit of our own Zambian Interest. We are not anyones puppets, but we are servants of the people.

But because Fred M'membe is himself a stooge and a puppet of Communist ideas and ideologies, he knows that the only way he can create political space for himself, and try to ressurect a dead political ideology like SOCIALISM is by painting everyone else as puppets of the west. Let him do Zambians a favor and also name and shame himself as a wannabe puppet of the Communists. We say wannabe because everybody knows Fred. Fred doesn't even believe in socialism himself. Fred is a product of free enterprise. Just check his own history in business. Fred wouldn't even remit taxes in the interest of the state, the poor and those in need of social support, but we all know how his greed and insatiable desire to hoard wealth brought him into trouble with the "Taxman."

5. LIE NUMBER 5
Mr. M'membe clearly has every right to congratulate the new government of Zimbabwe after their declared electoral win. That is everyone's prerogative. However in his broadcast interview, he peddles another very dangerous LIE. He claims that it is very difficult for ZANU PF to hand over power to the very people who colonized us for many years and since a number of leaders in government are still from that era, then they should never handover power. Surely, OUR PARTY, the MMD did not exist in vain. It is this type of thinking which we already destroyed in 1991 when Zambians retired UNIP through the ballot. Even the MMD was removed through the very democratic process they heralded, NO QUESTION. Even the PF was removed from power through the will of the people. Africa must never start to think that being a liberation movement or a Pan African movement means subverting the will of the people through Election manipulation, this is backward thinking and it tells you the kind of Leader Mr. Mmembe is.

These are just 5 Lies I have picked up by combing through his recent outbursts, but I can assure you that there are many more lies and half truths, creatively mixed by this editorial master and Father of Lies. In all honesty, when it comes to twisting and distorting facts to create a false story line, Mr. Fred M'membe is a master of his craft. Nonetheless, it is his narcissistic personality that worries me more. Mr. M'membe is a man with no conscience, no fear of God, no respector of historical facts, or figures, He is a man on a dangerous warpath to get to the top at all costs, and his weapons are numbers, figures, letters words, pictures and historical facts, which he twists cleverly to hoodwink the unsuspecting readers.

Zambia can never be socialist or communist and it shall never be. Zambia can never go back to dictatorship and stronghandedness. Zambia remains a champion of liberty, of freedoms, and a beacon of hope to those who wish to freely pursue their life, enterprise, happiness and Conscience.

Trying to to advance a socialist agenda in a flourishing democracy which considers itself a Christian Nation is tantamout to trying to resurrect the dead using Hot Water. IT IS A LIE.

Socialism is Dead. Chimo Nowafwa!
The Future is Neither East nor West.
AFRICA AND AFRICANS MUST COME FIRST!!!
