We all, without exception, have grieved, mourned, whatever you call it, in our lives.
Grief is not defined only by physical death, but also with the passing of something dear, be it a relationship, including work, marriage and friendship.
We mourn for the loss of our health, or the health, both physical and mental of people we love.

In the UK, a tv presenter has been forced out of his job, rightly so, for lying about a sexual relationship with a much younger colleague, who he apparently met when the boy was 15 and he was in his late forties, and married with children
The story is the talk of the UK news, whether the relationship was consensual or not does not change the fact that the presenter lied and abused the power of his position.
Meanwhile in Cyprus.....
A former bishop has been found guilty in a court of law for the indecent assault on a (at the time) 16 year old girl.
His lawyer has requested a suspended sentence given the former bishops age, 84, and that he should be cut some slack, after all, all this happened 42 years ago. (Translate this to, it happened ages ago, so who cares anymore?)
Apparently, sentencing will be announced on June 1st, but the holy synod will pronounce their sentence, to defrock him, to place him on indefinite leave, or to confine him to a monastery.

Since this story broke, apparently another 8 women have come forward with claims of sexual assault against this same bishop, as well as a 2021 complaint filed by a non resident, which has not proceeded since it happened abroad, so who cares?

Apparently now, there is a petition doing the rounds with the temerity to demand that clergymen of the orthodox faith should be exempt from charges for this kind of behaviour.
Why?
The church should have NO SAY in this.
This piece of s**t has been found guilty for a criminal act, and quite frankly, he should rot in a prison cell until he draws his last breath. as should ANYONE who has been convicted of a crime such as this.

ANY person who has ABUSED their position of power, be they tv presenters, priest, doctor, parent, teacher, celebrity or a politician should be made an EXAMPLE of, and be locked away for a minimum of 25 years, per conviction. Anyone else who has known and covered up these abuses should also be jailed as accessories and perverting the true course of justice.

Watching some of the s**t show that is Johnny Depp vs Amber Heard and listening to the testimony so far has brought to mind aspects of my own life.
Domestic abuse takes many forms, mental as well as physical and sexual.
There are, it has to be said, people who bring out the worst in each other, and each in their own way, become both abuser and abused at the same time.
There are others who, finally, find the strength to leave the toxicity, and try to start their lives again, using their experiences as life lessons and not life blueprints.
Through my experiences, I made both horrendously bad and good choices, as we all do.
Strength cannot only be measured physically but also mentally.
If anyone reading this is facing struggles, remember, there is NEVER any shame in asking for help.

Yesterday was international women's day.
The day we celebrate women, their strength, diversity, influence and inspiration.
So why then whilst social media has bombarded us with these affirmations also upped the amount of weight loss, beauty therapy and appearance ads?
Surely the point of having 'women's day' is to celebrate us as we are, not to change us into plastic dolls.

Yesterday, I chose to celebrate the day that Lili came into my life.
With all the joy and happiness, love and warmth that she always carries in her wake.
To my way of thinking, isn't it better to remember those we love who are no longer with us on a happy day rather than when they left us?

Recently in Cyprus, the supreme Court overturned a 'malicious' conviction against a young woman who 'alleged ' that she had been gang r***d.
The way this young woman was treated by the authorities and courts is disgraceful and now supposedly will be 'under review'
Can the 'review' honestly and impartially by carried out by the police?

Music can be the greatest form of communication that humanity has devised.
It can express every range of emotion, it can explain a situation that we're going through.
We still listen to music that was written hundreds of years ago and still find something new and fresh in it.
My personal anthem for this stage in my life is Tom Petty's
You don't know how it feels.
If I play it ear drum busting loud, it helps me to control my inner rage. If I play it quietly, it helps me to find my soul space.
It's my emotional barometer.

Now I'm not the brightest where it comes to maths as I have dyscalculia,(number blindness), but even I can work out that from paying €47 a month for electricity to €102 isn't right.
Especially when the electricity authority themselves show that I'm using less than half of the electricity than this time last year.
Even factoring in a 40% price hike, the very most I should be paying, if I were using the same amount of electricity should be €65.80 pm.
Is Cyprus the only country who is blatantly shafting its citizens, (no surprise really) in over charging essential services?
