We're diving into training today!
In episode three of RBS, the guys go over their journeys out of the sports they loved and into "civilian life" training, how to stay motivated, and the things that we really love about training.
Tune in and enjoy the episode.
In Episode 2 of the Ross and Brandon Show, the guys chat about their individual struggles with the balances of social media, and how to be authentic in a world that rewards inauthenticity.
A lot of the conversation turned to how to navigate the flood of information and turn it into positive, personal growth, especially for men.
This was a fun conversation that brought to fruition some ideas that hadn't been spoken out loud before.
Enjoy the episode!
KRIS CHAIN | Food Sovereignty and the Everything Almanac
If the last 3 years have taught us anything, its that we are entirely too dependent on others for our not only survival, but just daily needs.
This realization was a wake up call for many. To procure and be responsible for yourself and your family entirely should be the norm, but we’ve become reliant on convenience and comfort in the last 100 years.
For most people, the simplest place to begin to become more sovereign is your food supply.
My guest today, Kris Chain, has an extremely elegant solution.
Kris is the creator of Season Report.
Seasonreport.com is the everything almanac. Hunting, foraging, and gardening - all the tedious information like dates, regulations, are available in just a few clicks. All the information you want without any of the bloated ads or long testimonials.
If you want to eat higher quality food, live a more active lifestyle, and grow closer to nature - start with seasonreport.com. Stop spending so much time researching when or where and start doing.
In this conversation, we talk about how and why this platform came to be. But if you also want to hear about Nordic underground deep freezes, Genetic research on muscle, and why what your mom told you to do to be healthy when you were a kid is probably correct, than enjoy this episode.
In the first episode of this season of the affectionately and extremely creatively named, The Ross and Brandon Show, we dive into the lessons and mindset to establish foundations for success.
We have a good time reliving some childhood and athletic memories that helped shape us into who we are today, and get into what we wish we would have known earlier in life to help be successful in the mountains.
This project will be a chance for us to share what we're learning and experimenting with in our training and preparations for hunts and other outdoors adventures. We'll also take some deep dives into specific passions we have in the strength and outdoors worlds.
Enjoy the show!
Pretty fun process and I’m really happy how this first Euro turned out.
There’s so much to learn in this world of hunting and I am doing my best to have every part of the process done by my own hands.
I want to learn all of these things rather than send it off to get done by someone else. It keeps me connected more to the experience and the memories.
Plus, each thing is one more skill I can suck at for a while and dive deeper into.

CHARLES WHITWAM | HOWL for Wildlife
We've got one of the most actionable episodes we've ever done for you today. My guest is Charles Whitwam. Charles is the founder of HOWL for Wildlife, a non-profit organization dedicated to the one thing we need as outdoorsmen, organization.
The technology and effort going into this project is amazing, and has already been proven to be extremely successful in getting the correct information to us on what is happening in these often unchecked legislative bodies attempting to alter or take away the things we love and factually know improve wildlife and the wilderness they live in.
Listen in as Charles breaks down the how, what, and why of HOWL and what you can do to Take Action.

BEAR HANDLON | Born Primitive
The most innovative, creative, and useful ideas come from someone thinking of a practical way to solve a problem in their own life.
My guest today, Bear Handlon, is one of those people. Bear is the founder and CEO of Born Primitive apparel, former military, Crossfit Games athlete, and family man.
Bear started Born Primitive to fill a need, and he did so during what we both affectionately called the Hayday of the Crossfit Games. Years later, he saw another need to fill and enlisted the help of Aron Snyder to create Born Primitive Outdoors, a brand of mountain and outdoor layering systems.
In this conversation, Bear and I dive into the Outdoors line and what makes it different than what is currently on the market, the ups and downs of running a business, and he also shares some really insightful productivity practices that keep his company and himself operating at a high level.
The Outdoors line is launching this Friday the 16th with a pre-sale, but be warned, there’s already 20,000 or so people on the list. So if you want a run at the first round of this killer gear, be ready to roll on Friday and sign up for the updates.
I really enjoyed this conversation with Bear and took a lot away from his insights.

ERIC CONN | Why Men Need Gangs
Back on the show today is Eric Conn, host of several great podcasts (The Hard Men Podcast, The King's Hall, and Wilderness Warrior) aimed at giving practical advice to Christian men about masculinity.
Today we try to come up with some solutions to some of the problems Christian men are facing today, including;
-How to make good Christian media that isn't cheesy
-Encouraging men to get a gang together and cause some trouble for good, as Eric says
-Addressing the poor general health and fitness of men in the church
-How powerful hunting can be for personal growth
If you enjoyed the conversation today, be sure to follow Eric and his other media ventures.

We've probably all hit a point in our training where we feel like there's just no more energy or desire. Training hard for years can lead to burnout, and my guest today has a great story about how he overcame that himself and fell in love with training again.
John Parker is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, StrongFirst Elite, Beast Tamer, and Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner. John graduated from the University of California San Diego in 2008 with a degree in History and Spanish Literature. He has 15 years experience in the world of strength and conditioning and trains clients locally and worldwide.
He and I had a great conversation about coaching and running a business you love, as well as his journey back to enjoying his training, and the programs he's created to help others do the same.

There has always been a special connection between Man and Nature. It is innate; something we often can't explain.
Getting out and experiencing the stillness of the air and the sounds of the trees and animals cannot be replicated. When you add in the focus and adrenaline of the pursuit of an animal, there are things you feel that you can't explain.
Today I'm joined by Christian Williams of .Strong. Christian is a returning guest on the show and we get into some really fun conversation about the importance of hunting to us as humans, and men specifically.
Christian is a great coach who helps archers feel healthier and stronger so they can continue doing the thing they love. Be sure to give him a follow and enjoy this episode.
HIGHLIGHTS:
• Rites of Passage for boys
• An awesome hunting story from Christian
• What being in nature means to us as men

GREG WALSH | Always Tinkering
I had the pleasure for today's episode of catching up with fantastic coach, and my friend, Greg Walsh of .
This time around, Greg and I had a lot to catch up on, and as our conversations often do, we went down some rabbit holes. Through all of it though, we center around the idea of always finding small ways to improve ourselves, or "tinkering" as Greg says.
We covered a lot of ground, and still could have covered more, but I know that you'll enjoy this conversation.
HIGHLIGHTS:
-Greg fills me in on Convergence, the annual training and coaching gathering at Wolf Brigade Gym
-How Greg has been working through a fairly debilitating injury
-Why we must continue to pursue growth
-What have we learned in the last two years of oversight, censorship, and hypocrisy?

Returning on the podcast today is NYT Bestselling author and former Navy SEAL, Jack Carr.
We had a great conversation about all of the things that have happened since our last conversation a year ago, including some of the behind-the-scenes info regarding the new Terminal List series launching on Amazon Prime this summer.
As always, Jack has great stories to tell, and there was a really interesting conversation had about his creative process and what it takes to write these novels and develop these stories.
If you've read any of the books, I know you'll love this episode.
The new novel, In The Blood, has taken my top spot in his works, and it releases today! Go order it now and dive in, you'll be in for a ride.
Enjoy!
Training a few times per week, being conscious of your food will get you called things like “health nut” and “fitness freak” by the average person.
That’s fine by me.
Being fit needs to be the norm, for your sake and for the sake of your circle.
If we all took that approach and instilled some discipline and created strong homes and communities, there’d be less crap happening right now, I promise you that.
We need more health nuts and fitness freaks.
I’ve been overwhelmed lately with the support of this little project you all have given me.
It really makes me want to kick it up a notch for you.
I’ve got some ideas…
Thank you for letting me explore my curiosity.

Whenever I get the chance to dive really deep and nerd out on programming and development, I love it. When I met today's guest, Derek Woodske, at Winterstrong a couple months ago, I knew I would have the same conversations with him.
In the episode, Derek had explained his idea that athletes coming out of high school should maybe wait a year or two before going into collegiate athletics. In this clip we gave some of our funny, personal experiences competing against way older men for the first time.

In one of the more fun conversations I've had since starting this show, I got to chat with my friend, Zach Rollins, host and founder of the Along the Keel podcast and lifestyle company.
Zach has been a waterman his whole life and brings that passion to his work with his coastal lifestyle company, Along the Keel. He is also a competitive Weightlifter and fellow podcast nerd, so there were a lot of great "Did we just become best friends?" moments in this episode.
Enjoy this clip and have good laugh with us.

There are a handful of people in the outdoors community that I really just connect to their way of living. My guest today is one of those people.
Ryan Lampers is a husband, father, entrepreneur, and lover of all things outdoors. He is an extremely successful hunter, which is due to the 100+ days per year he spends in the field.
We covered a ton of ground in this episode and it was great to get some insight into the lessons he's learned over the years, which will be helpful for anyone interested in the outdoors lifestyle.
We live in a time where we can get whatever we want whenever we want, usually from someone we don't know overseas somewhere.
It's becoming harder and harder to buy really great, American made products; while also knowing the family running the operation.
Today my guest is Scott Volquartsen of Volquartsen Custom. Scott and I connected at WinterStrong recently and I knew from all of the endorsements from people I knew, and after shooting his guns, that I had to learn more about his story.
In this clip, Scott talks about the problems navigating social media while marketing fi****ms.
Check the rest of the episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or WaypointTV.
Today my guest is Logan Gelbrich, owner of Deuce Gym, coach, author, and serial entrepreneur. I have followed Logan and Deuce for several years, so I was really looking forward to diving deeper on some of the things that make Deuce different than any gym you'll find in the country.
Logan is full of great stories and takeaways that you can apply if you are a coach, entrepreneur, leader, or just someone looking to improve their capacity as a human.

Being successful when you're hunting in the mountains is the result of a lot of pieces coming together, but doing the hard work to give yourself the best chance at success had better be among them.
Dan "The Fitness Man" Staton is a husband, father, obsessive elk hunter, and the founder and creator of ElkShape and the Elk Shape Podcast.
I've followed Dan for several years and have always loved his intense, blue collar attitude toward training and getting it done on the mountain, and in this conversation we get into a lot about how that developed.
HIGHLIGHTS:
-Dan's first elk he killed
-How Crossfit changed his training style
-Elk Shape Camps
-Whats the most important thing for hunters with limited time
-What Dan's current training looks like

What many people in the gym will tell you is that they are used for conditioning workouts and meant to be light to prevent injury. That’s the topic with my guest today, Eric Spector, aka @ericdoeskettlebell. Today we got into; his journey to the kettlebell and how it changed his training, the kb community that embraced him, Freedom in training, mastery of a skill, his apparel company Touch Grass Co, his IG account EricDoesKettlebell, his time in the Marines as a linguist, and more. NEW KNIFE DAY As much as I admire the craft and skill of knife making, I’m surprised that this was my first blade made for me by a bladesmith. Justin and I have gotten to know each other pretty well the last few months and I really loved his work, so I had him make me one of his knives. It’s called a Nomad. How could I not? The quality is incredible on this. He was extremely transparent throughout the process and sent me videos as he was working to give me updates. I’m really impressed by this knife and can’t wait to add it to my carry. I’ve already told him that a tomahawk is the next project. Go check him out. I appreciate your work, brother. Thank you. +1
