Dear Fellow Citizens.

I would like to share some reflections on the importance of unity and love for our country as we strive for development in The Gambia.

Consider a nation like China, which, with a population exceeding 1.4 billion people and 56 distinct ethnic groups, has managed to progress significantly by fostering a sense of unity and patriotism among its citizens. If such a vast and diverse country can achieve development through collective effort, why can’t a smaller nation like The Gambia, with its population of less than 3 million, do the same?

It is essential for us to ponder this question deeply. The reality is that no country can truly thrive without the unity of its people and a genuine love for their homeland. In The Gambia, we often perceive unity as something that can only be achieved through mere words or in times of sorrow. However, real unity is rooted in loving our fellow citizens as we love ourselves.

Regrettably, our beloved country faces significant challenges, both materially and spiritually. Despite our ability to share meals, work together, and engage in communal activities, there remains an undercurrent of animosity among us. This spiritual discord prevents many from rising to their full potential. While we may not experience physical violence, many engage in spiritual battles that hinder progress and prosperity.

As Allah-fearing Muslims, we must recognize that true faith requires harmony in our hearts. If we allow divisions to fester, we risk remaining stagnant and backward as a nation. It is time for us to commit to genuine unity—one that transcends mere words and manifests in our daily actions and interactions with one another.

Let us strive for a collective awakening, where we support and uplift one another, fostering an environment of love and respect Wasalam.

Nawac Nawac Nawac! It has now been more than 10 hours without electricity, and I must ask: what is truly going on?

To my dear Gambian brothers and sisters, I say, "Wolahi," we face a significant problem as a nation. However, let us not place the blame solely on President Adama Barrow. The responsibility is collective. In any country where people believe that one individual can single-handedly change the course of the nation, there exists a fundamental misunderstanding.

Our government is composed of thousands of individuals—our own brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles, mothers, and fathers—who come from our own communities, not from distant lands like India, China, or Afghanistan. Are we truly holding them accountable for their responsibilities and duties to our country? We must remember that accepting a salary without fulfilling one’s obligations is Haram.

A system cannot be effectively managed by a single person; not even a household can function without the contribution of all its members. When a nation remains stagnant or regresses, it reflects on the citizens of that country. It is time for us to shift our mindset away from the belief that the president is solely responsible for our nation’s fate. The truth is, the president is not everything; it is the citizens who hold the true power.

Let us embrace our responsibilities and perform our duties diligently. Together, we can drive the change we wish to see in our beloved Gambia Wasalam.

🇬🇲To My Dear Gambian Brothers and Sisters🇬🇲

Selfishness can never foster the growth of a Family or community, let alone a country. Every sensible citizen understands that military and police checkpoints are not just simple barriers; they embody the sophistication and authority of our security forces. No prudent driver should ever speed towards a checkpoint, nor should anyone refuse to stop when required. While we acknowledge that mechanical failures can occur, it is crucial to signal such incidents to security personnel so they can understand the situation. However, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs poses a significant danger and must be condemned by every honest and patriotic citizen.

Let us remember that our ability to sleep peacefully, worship Allah the Almighty, or conduct our daily affairs hinges on the security we enjoy. Without security, there can be no prosperous life in any nation. Gambians must be law-abiding citizens, and we must show respect to our security personnel, who strive diligently to provide us with a peaceful environment. We cannot demand security while undermining it; that is a contradiction we must avoid.

It is troubling to witness the rise of alcohol consumption in our nation, driven by the selfishness and greed of a few individuals. We must all commit to being law-abiding citizens, or we risk descending into a failed state—may God forbid such a fate.

To the dedicated members of the Gambia Armed Forces and the Gambia Police Force, you are the guardians of our safety and freedom. We urge you to continue performing your duties with professionalism and integrity. You are our brothers and sisters, and we trust that inflicting harm on fellow citizens is not your desire.

May Allah the Almighty bless every patriotic citizen who strives for the betterment of our beloved country, and may the negative elements in our society find the path to change for good Wasalam.

It is disheartening to see that cellphone Internet providers in The Gambia seem to prioritize profit over the needs of their citizens. The situation has become unsustainable, and it is crucial for the Public Utilities Regulatory Authority (PURA) to investigate the practices of these providers.

In Senegal, the cost of Internet access is significantly more affordable—just CFA 1000, which is roughly equivalent to D120—allowing me to enjoy uninterrupted online services during my stay here. This stark contrast raises an important question: how can Internet access be so costly in The Gambia, especially when so many people are struggling to make ends meet?

It is truly sad to witness this disparity, and I hope that we can find a way to address these issues. May Allah the Almighty guide us through these challenges, InshaAllah.

We stand at a crossroads where our strength lies in our unity as a family, community, and nation, working together for the common good. We must choose to come together authentically, rather than merely pretending to unite during times of tragedy. Our goal should be to foster lasting connections and support one another in everyday life, not just in moments of crisis.

In this current generation, we have the potential to eradicate poverty and create a brighter future for all InshaAllah. Let us commit to building a society where compassion, collaboration, and understanding prevail, ensuring that no one is left behind. Together, we can lay the foundation for a more equitable and united world, where our collective efforts lead to prosperity and peace for everyone Wasalam.

The ultimate source of guidance and protection for an individual is their own heart, as it is where the truest desires and intentions reside. However, the ultimate protector and guardian is Allah, the almighty. May our hearts always be guided by righteousness and may Allah continue to watch over us and protect us in all aspects of our lives InshaAllah.

Allah, the almighty, is not a human being. There is no intermediary between Allah and his servants. Only Allah has the power to dictate what is best for his servants, and no mortal being can influence or control his decisions. Allah is the one and only deity who has the ultimate power to do as he pleases for his servants, and no one can challenge or change his will. If one tries to destroy something that Allah has already made possible, they will ultimately face consequences in the end Wasalam.

It is never too late to celebrate Africa Day, and on this special day in 2024, I want to extend warm wishes to all peace-loving and courageous Africans. May the souls of our late heroes and liberators continue to rest in peace. I offer a special prayer for my late grandfather, Sergeant Banta Tunkara, whose father, Bunna Assa Tunkara, was the founder of Gambisara in the Upper River Region (URR) of The Gambia. Gambisara and Allunhareh in URR were founded by two brothers, Bunna Assa Tunkara and Foday Assa Tunkara, both Soninke Warriors. Sergeant Banta Tunkara served in the Gambia British Contingent during the Second World War and rose to the rank of First Class Sergeant, the highest rank at the time. Upon returning to The Gambia, he became the first Sarahulleh to settle in Brikama in the West Coast Region. He continued to contribute to shaping various institutions in The Gambia and eventually became the head of NTC. His hard work and dedication make me proud to be African, and I will continue to honor his legacy and be a proud African for the rest of my life InshaAllah.

It is important to be aware of the presence of manipulators within our families and society. Manipulation is considered a grave sin in Islam and in our African culture. As Muslims, we should never engage in manipulative actions, no matter the circumstances. We should always strive to be truthful, as Allah is the ultimate judge who sees everything, both hidden and unhidden.

Reflecting on the destructive impact of manipulation in our families, neighborhoods, and country, we see how manipulators can tear apart the unity of families, love, and friendships. Just one manipulator can cause lasting damage for generations to come. May Allah guide us away from the dangers of manipulation, InshaAllah.

I Ebrima HM Drammeh, pledge my allegiance to only Allah the almighty, the ultimate authority who holds the power to determine my destiny in life and afterlife.

I was raised with values of respect, honor, and love for my elders, and I was not taught to be subservient to anyone else.

I do not fear Jinn, as with knowledge they can be controlled. Evil can be conquered, and snakes can be easily defeated.

However, what truly terrifies me are human snakes, who are deadly and destructive to human life. They possess the ability to harm future generations and bring chaos to our families, communities and continent in general.

I pray from Allah the almighty to rid our society of these harmful elements, InshaAllah.

Leadership is closely tied to maturity and understanding.

One cannot truly be an exemplary leader if they are not mature enough to handle the responsibilities and challenges that come with the role.

It is important to have a deep understanding of the people you are leading and the situations you are facing in order to effectively guide and inspire others.

May Allah continue to guide us in our leadership roles, InshaAllah.

We, the people of The Gambia, are delighted to host the OIC summit and welcome our brothers from over fifty countries to our nation. We must remember that Islam teaches us to be tolerant and to love one another for the sake of Allah. We call for the total freedom of our people who face racial discrimination and mistreatment in some OIC countries. Being black does not make us any less human, Muslim, or deserving of access to other countries. Allah created all humans equally and calls for unity and peace regardless of ethnicity or race. Let us all strive to change and work together for the sake of peace and unity.

We urge our OIC brothers to support our efforts to promote democracy, human rights, and good governance in The Gambia. By collaborating, we can create a better future for all our people. Let us strengthen our bonds of friendship and solidarity during this summit and work towards a more peaceful and prosperous world. We are thankful for the support and solidarity of our OIC brothers and sisters, and we anticipate a successful summit.

May Allah bless us all and lead us towards peace, unity, and prosperity InshaAllah.
