While everyone is focusing on what was said during the debates, no one is focusing on what wasn’t said. And it turns out, in a clear case of What They Didn’t Tell You, what wasn’t said was maybe more important than what was said.
It’s foreign policy.
In a stunning decision, the Presidential Debate Commission decided to leave out foreign policy despite foreign policy being one of the main duties of the Presidency. There are two reasons for this.
It would cost most major networks serious money.
There’s nothing to talk about because President Trump has done such a thorough job
Trump has done such a good job on foriegn policy there’s really very little to talk about. His record speaks for itself:
- ISIS has been destroyed
- The war in Afghanistan is drawing to an end with troop numbers getting smaller and smaller
- The US presence in Iraq is dwindling
-Trump has brokered historic peace deals between the Middle East and Israel
- Iran has been castrated without a full war
- He eased tensions with North Korea, though a complete peace deal has not yet been achieved
- Trump has received three Nobel Peace Prize nominations including one for his work with Serbia and Kosovo.
- Biden, on the other hand, not only voted for the Iraq war under
- Bush, but during his time in office failed to get the US out of the war as he and Obama had promised.
With ISIS on the rise because of Biden and Obama policies, Americans were rightly nervous.
People forget that 5 years ago, we were all terrified of terrorist attacks. Thanks largely to Trump, that fear, and much of the Islamophobia that came with it, has been mostly taken care of.
The second reason is most major news companies literally cannot *afford it*. It would cost them money.
Listing positive things about Trump would damage their credibility because they have published exclusively negative articles about the Trump Administration. Credibility is the currency all news outlets trade in.
Even worse, it would cause viewership to dwindle, costing them even more ad revenue because people like having their biases confirmed rather than challenged. Talking about Biden’s record vs Trump’s record automatically makes Biden look bad, and he is the favorite of most the networks.
Even so, this is a clear case of What They Didn’t Tell You: where what was left out was more important than what was put in.
