The financial state of the world is making it tough for everyone, especially small business owners. Rising costs, shrinking budgets, and uncertain markets can feel overwhelming so let’s bring it right back to our community level.

🍄Personal share time:

Over Christmas I faced my biggest business challenges so far; some clients weren’t happy with the work I was doing, others were absolutely thrilled with our projects and some of my clients stopped paying their bills entirely (all due to their entirely valid personal reasons). This really had me contemplating if I should keep going or not.

Your eyes grow to become wide open as you go deeper and deeper into who you are, what your business is and how are you here to serve. We must fill our own cups first. So while I nurse my financial wounds, I am asking the universe for abundance to continue to flow in. If I keep going I need the clear signs of MONEY coming back in to do so!

I’m loving the feeling of finishing art. Most of my life, until I started my own business, I was a serial non-finisher of projects.

What I am learning about myself though is that I get this hunger and obsession while I’m drawing something to get to the end, I realised I’m chasing a high.

An art high seems like a healthy type of high. Aside from being in the same position for hours and my body being in agony afterwards. I really tried to slow this latest one down.

“Henny Penny” she’s pretty cool. When I was snapping this picture she was giving me side eye big time. How dare I come to the coop without more food!

Reconnecting with my art has revealed some surprising yet not so surprising insights, not just of creativity but of learning about myself. These latest artworks taught me something I’ve been trying to address in other areas of my life: my need for balance.

I was throwing myself into a piece with obsessive intensity, hours slipping by as I ignored my body’s limits. It’s exhilarating, until my body reminds me later, that passion without balance comes at a cost.

This time, I tried to work in shorter bursts, brake up the process, and resist the pull of that relentless drive. It wasn’t easy, but the result has shown me I can still get the same satisfaction of my finished art piece with more of the balance I’m striving for, not just in art but in life.

Happy New Year! 🥳 this is Chicken Little. I am pet sitting her and a few other ladies 🐔. She is a wonderful character with an incredible backstory. She free ranges the yard in suburbia because she will not be contained. She escapes and flys over any obstacles. The cats that love to hang out in this garden leave her alone too. She is sassy and adorable 🥰.

No other way to bring in the new year other than pay homage to her.

She disappeared on me for nearly 3 days and I cried thinking I’d somehow driven her away. Then on the 3rd day she miraculously appeared, standing on a table, hooting and hollering. I rushed out there to say hello only to immediately step in her adorable p**p 💩.

I love the way she struts, I love the noises she makes, I love her oh so much.

Over the weekend, Karen celebrated the launch of her very first children’s book, Zaneo’s KOW Around Australia! 🥳 The book is about Zaneo’s adventures along the journey to pick up his KOW (Kennel On Wheels). This book is such a delightful read! Karen illustrated every single page herself and we had so much fun incorporating those beautiful illustrations into her website! 🎨✨

Karen brought me on board to create a website where she could share her adventures and sell her books while she travels around Australia. And this is just the beginning, there are more books on the way! 📚 It’s such a fun read for the whole family to enjoy together. 🐾

Woohoo! This is my latest client project.

A beautiful, fun website for a wonderful children’s book Author and Illustrator, Karen Irving. Her first Children’s book is Zaneo’s KOW Around Australia, with many more to come.

I stepped in when my Karen was facing a crazy tight deadline after her original designer fell sick. I dug deep, delivered something we’re both really proud of—and met the deadline!

I am really grateful to have met and worked with Karen, her passion is contagious!

This Sunday 15th of September Karen will be at the Canning Vale Markets in Perth, showing off Zaneo’s KOW (Kennel On Wheels) for the kiddos and giving a talk about her book.

Running your own business feels so hard to get motivated sometimes, figure out what your priorities are, how to do the hard stuff and the boring stuff. I found my own solution. I wanted to be my own boss but f*ck I couldn’t get motivated. I really needed a boss being stuck in the old ways, in my old programs. In steps, the higher self… She knows exactly what I need to do. She’s been there and done it all already. As soon as I tap into that, boom 💥 I get all the clarity I need. I’m working for her and she’s working for me, guiding me back into alignment. Keeping me on track. I am her and she is me. I can channel all of my people pleasing into a healthy cause. To my higher self boss… me… the me I want to be but really am already! This is self love IN business… are you kidding?!? Why didn’t anyone tell me this? So I have to share this with you because no one is talking about it in this way. Do other people do this or is it just me? If you start pretending your boss is your higher self, you won’t be pretending for long. Immediately she appears and becomes reality.
