On the table with Wasteland Express We are here for the vikings. In particular we are here for the Champions of Midgard. A game by Ole Steiness game from 2015 that combined worker placement and combat dice into a beautiful rich thematic gem of a table top adventure. The game’s central mechanic has players using workers rushing about their viking village running errands to get their warrior pals ready to battle Trolls and Draugr, and packing supplies to head over the sea on heroic journeys to fight mythical monsters....

So Steve tried out Ruthless and now he is a pirate. These things happen. Check out his review and maybe becoming a pirate yourself.

https://everydaymeeple.com/ruthless/

Ruthless is a perfect example of a modern card game. A game that has suits and poker hands but, because of its theme and setting, the rules make sense to me. It’s a card game that uses poker-style hands as a mechanic but bids adieu to the Royal suits of traditional playing cards. Replacing them in...

Steve reached out to the designer of the game, Thomassie Mangiok and he was kind enough to...

For episode 9 I get a bit excited and try and explain to Steve what I find fascinating about the world before Catan. I had something in my head about the game Acquire having been mentioned as the seed of modern Eurogames. Which really interested me. I started looking into and did not find too much at first then came across the book "Eurogames: The Design, Culture and Play of Modern European Board Games" by Stewart Woods and it is crammed full of history.
