👣 Today, I had an unexpected and quite enlightening encounter. Someone accidentally stepped on my foot, and when I brought it to their attention, hoping for a simple apology, I was met with silence and indifference. It made me think about the power of apologies and the reasons why some people find it so hard to utter those two simple words - “I’m sorry.”
Is it pride that holds us back? The fear of appearing weak or wrong? Or perhaps it’s the vulnerability that comes with acknowledging our mistakes. It’s fascinating and somewhat disheartening to see how a small gesture of kindness and responsibility can be overshadowed by ego.
Let’s not forget the strength found in humility and the courage it takes to apologize. In a world where pride often takes the front seat, let’s choose empathy and understanding. Watch out for the pitfalls of excessive pride; it should never be so consuming that it prevents us from doing the right thing.
