In December 2017, when Vinay Kothari ventured out on a journey to the Malnad region of the Western Ghats, little did he know that a business idea would strike him there.

“ Once we returned from the journey, I ate these amazing jackfruit bars at a chai ki tapri( tea shop) that were made from aboriginal jackfruits by a original SHG. They were preservative-free, tasted heavenly, and I wondered why these products weren't available in urban markets, ” recalls the 34- year-old former marketing professional.
The veritably coming day, he bought 30 kg of original and indigenous products to sell at a stall in a flea market at the Chitrakala Parishath in Bengaluru.

“ We had reserved the stall for three days, but our products vended out in the first half of the first day. This led to the thesis that traditional indigenous products have great demand. This is the understanding grounded on which GO DESi was innovated, ” he says.
GO DESi is a packaged food brand which creates treats inspired by indigenous flavours and was innovated by Vinay in March 2018.

Creating a sustainable ecosystem
Since the team wanted to capture original flavours in their products, they demanded to identify entrepreneurs in the area who were preparing these edibles, and land them.

therefore, began the hunt, and the platoon was helped in the process by original NGOs, Foundations and Cooperatives like the Deshpande foundation. Trust was built over time, and it gradually strengthened as the entrepreneurs started serving from this association. Today, they earn a profit of nearly 25 per cent since they started working with GO DESi.
The Deshpande Foundation and the Kadamba Cooperative also helped GO DESi in finding original connects which helped them set up their units.

Today, most of their operations are based out of Sirsi, and they also have sixmicro-units in rural and semi-urban areas in Karnataka.

Harini Sivakumar, the founder and CEO of Earth Rhythm, intended to solve her son's skin ailment but ended up launching her own business.
For Harini Sivakumar, who was a homemaker for seven years after her marriage, becoming the founder of a Rs 200 crore brand felt like a pipe dream.
She was an average student who married off at the age of 22.
Her brief career was cut short when her son was born.
Her son was later identified with down syndrome.
She began to dream of accomplishing her ambitions again five years later, when he began attending school.
Harini launched an indigenous skincare brand in 2015, first attempting to remedy the skin problem.
She researched more into the subject, took courses, created new products, and finally, with the help of her father, relaunched it as Earth Rhythm in 2019.
