to film i use protake, it gives me more control and stabilizes my footage. To edit I use kinemaster, for color grading I use vsco and I use split video to cut my videos in 15 second increments for stories. Now Like I said. I use a gazillion apps for everything from preparation all the way to distribution. I even have them organized in a special way on my phone to reduce friction as much as possible when filming. If you would like to see a video about my app usage, like this video. If there is interest, I ll make one for you.

You might have all the gear in the world, it will not necessarily result in you making great videos. You will need to or/and entertain, educate or inspire your audience .. and preferably do it while leaving them with a specific emotion. The art of creating emotions is something that can be learned. Here are some things that influence the emotion of the viewer : music, color, tempo of your edit, lighting, framing, camera movement and more. but don't feel overwhelmed by this list.. these can be learned progressively. the most important thing is to think about entertaining, educating or inspiring.. the rest can be learned in a good online course or by watching tutorials. You do not need to master everything from the get go neither. In my course I focus on making sure you can make a video after the first lesson and I keep adding skills on top of the base over time . #Videography #thepocketvideographer #iphonegraphy #mobilephonegraphy #productvideography #smartphonefilmmaking #digitalfilmmaking #editsvideo #instaphonegraphy #editedvideo #mobile_phonography #nobudgetfilmmaking #iphonefilmmaking #mobilefilmmaker #lowbudgetfilmmaking #colourgrading #filmgear #camerasetup
I have another video in which I talk about the tool is use to shoot. It's my basic kit. I will link it in the description. But to recap. I have an iphone 11 pro max but any decently recent mobile phone should do. a pop socket, a mini tripod, A microphone, and a clamps. The only thing I did not mention in the other video is lights. Sound and lights are way more important that the camera or phone you use. In good lighting, most of the phones perform great. You can use natural light by filming next to your window or you can use a , preferably soft, artificial light source. There are tons of videos on youtube about how to properly use lights so I won't go into details today. The other thing you can really mess up is sound. It's been said over and over again but I ll say it too.... people will forgive a bad video quality but will leave for bad audio. Getting a good mic is the first thing you should put your money in .. right after your phone off course. #Videography #thepocketvideographer #iphonegraphy #videographer #videostatus #editingvideo #shotonmobile #showreel #videoshooting #videoclips #broll #videocontent #transitionvideo #smartphonography #editordevideo #phonography📱 #mobilephonegraphy #productvideography #smartphonefilmmaking #digitalfilmmaking #editsvideo #instaphonegraphy #editedvideo #mobile_phonography #nobudgetfilmmaking #iphonefilmmaking #mobilefilmmaker #lowbudgetfilmmaking #colourgrading #filmgear #camerasetup
WHO
If you would google marketing for dummies, one of the things all the top articles will mention is defining your demographics. In a nutshell it's figuring out who is your video for. There are quite some tools online that will help you define your target audience but let's assume you know who they are. The next question you might want to ask yourself is..
WHERE
where do they hang out. In real life, you would not open a gym in an industrial area... you would want to open it in a densely populated neighborhood. Well the same thing goes with your content. Some people might hang out here on youtube but maybe the best way to reach them is on linkedin or on tik tok. You need to get to know your audience and research which platforms they use. Why you need to know that is because every network comes with specific set of rules. For example. Tik tok is exclusively for vertical short videos of max 1 min. Youtube is mainly horizontal and videos tent to be about 10 min long. You should not post personal stuff or cat videos on linkedin.. They don't like that. Every platform has a typical audience and a purpose. It's nice to think about that before you start shooting.
WHEN
Within your preparation you might also wan to ask yourself, when you should upload. Again based on your audience and your platform, you might want to post more or less often. Also be realistic, especially in the beginning. Don't write down that you will post a video to youtube every day. This is probably not achievable and will definiely lead to some disappointment down the road. Better be conservative in how much content you want to release in the beginning. You probably still have to learn a lot and too much pressure often leads to people giving up. When I moved to Berlin in 2016, it was to start a company. I had the greatest intentions. one of those was to Document everything and have great content that would bring awareness to my business. I soon realized that in order to do that, I would need to spend quite some money... that I did not have. So I opened up google and little did I know it would lead me to an exciting but completely different adventure.

A quick rough tour of my course recording setup.. Should I make a more "in depth" video? What would you like to know?
