We’re excited to share that LAYLA by writer-director Amrou Al-Kadhi, is heading to Sundance Film Festival in World competition! When Layla, a struggling Arab drag queen, falls in love for the first time, they lose and find themself in a transformative relationship that tests who they really are. Following Layla, a British-Palestinian drag queen who loses & finds themselves in the throes of first love, this movie is my love letter to the creative resilience of the q***r community, and an unbridled celebration of q***r Arab magic.

We are proud and honored to debut Aum Group's next film, FANCY DANCE, at Sundance Film Festival in U.S. Dramatic Competition. From writer-director Erica Tremblay, FANCY DANCE follows a young Native American hustler who, following her sister’s disappearance, kidnaps her niece from the child's white grandparents and sets out for the state powwow in hopes of keeping what is left of their family intact.

AUM Group is a multicultural film fund. AUM Group develops and acquires creative IP, finances multicultural motion pictures, and invests in the next generation of storytellers.

Multicultural audiences have been a boon for the film industry. The Latino, Asian, and African diasporas, alone, represent half of domestic box office audiences today and are poised to become the majority by 2040. Moreover, the Asian and Latino diasporas are the fastest-growing populations in the country. Data also suggests that if more than 30% of the cast is diverse, the film performs better at every budget level. Finally, multicultural audiences out-index every other demographic in online media consumption on every device and for nearly every major creative format.

But it’s hardly roses. Fewer than 5% of the 1,300+ directors from the last 11 years’ top-performing films reflect the composition of society we live in. While the major festivals have fared better in their recognition, they still represent relatively low numbers compared to the general spectrum of society with only 35% of helmers coming from underrepresented racial/ethnic groups (i.e. a ratio of 1.9 white directors to every one director of color) and 25% from women.

That’s why we’re here. This changes now.
