We have not abandoned you folks. I'm still being worked like a dog at USPS, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. When I can, I do occasionally work on the upcoming Loot-a-mania. Still in the early, early phases of development. At the very least we have some sprites completed. I'll share them at some point with you. Stay tuned!

I apologize for the serious lack of updates. Started with USPS and they are working me like a dog. Very little time for myself. I am in the planning stages still for Loot-a-mania. Perhaps one day I'll actually get some time to work on it.

Loot-a-mania Update; I haven't made much progress with the game in terms of programming. I have however a complete soundtrack and working on some simple voice samples. Kind of working backwards on this one. I was hoping for some progress within the community regarding some issues with the engine I'd like to use but things haven't really progressed as I'd like. Two steps back and one forward. I will however have somemore graphics to share soon. So that'd be fun.

NES Showcase; Beetlejuice. Developed by Rare and Published by LJN during 1991. This often overlooked platformer provides challenging game play with catchy music and solid graphics. A whole host of power-ups that require mindless grinding for the in game currency to purchase. These power-ups can literally make or break your play through. I have to say this is one of the better LJN games but that isn't really saying much. It's a decent game that can be rewarding at times if you can get over the challange. Though, I don't blame anyone who can't. Personally, I've only managed to complete this game twice and it was a slog. Worth a playthrough, but don't expect to fall in love.

Here is a animated gif of Kerby, from Kerby's Adventure. You can also find this on Divoom.

I picked up one of those fantastic Divoom animated pixel frames a while back. I am in absolute love with this thing. They come in 8, 16 and 32 color frames. Anyhow, I'll be sharing some of my pixel art occasionally. An for those with the frame, you can find more of my work with a quick search for SilverFox. Feel free to follow me! This here is Christine from Arkistas Ring.

NES Showcase; Batman the Video Game. Produced and developed by Sunsoft in 1989. This graphically stunning and action packed title was the caped crusader first foray on the Nintendo. The tight controls and wicked wall jumping mechanic propelled this game to the upper echelon of NES releases. Especially in regards to licensed games. This being one of the few that was actually any good. Let's not forget to mention the sweet soundtrack and impressive cut scenes. Few games can compare to Batman the Video Game. Personally, this is probably one of my all time favorite titles on the NES, it deserves far more love.

Greetings and Salutations everyone, I know it's been alittle while. I've been swamped with other things but I am pleased to announce that I am writing a new Call of Cthulhu scenario that will be available from Drive Through RPG within a couple weeks. So, if you're a fan of table-top roleplaying, this post should definitely get you excited! More to come as the date draws near.

In other news, as with most project with my son, our game has been put on the back burner since school has begun. Plus I have to figure out how to deal with a few bugs we found during development. With that said, I plan on returning to my own project Loot-a-mania. When I have more worthwhile news to share, I'll be sure to post here. Same goes for that contest I decided to hold off until Loot-a-mania is well into development.

Oh, the return of my weekly posts showcasing some fine examples of NES games will be returning under a new name that makes more sense, NES Showcase! Keep your eyes peeled.

Sorry about the lack of updates. I've been very busy the past month with prepping the kids to return to school and our upcoming vacation. Once we return from it I plan on continuing with my posts featuring classic NES titles.

NES Showcase; Archnon. Published by Activision and developed by Free Fall in 1989. Archnon is a port of the 1983 Apple II verison. It is a cross between chess and a strategy game that boasts two player support on the NES. This little gem has great replay value and can be quite challenging but a whole lot of fun to play. For those of you who have a copy of this game sitting on a shelf and never gotten around to playing it, I strongly urge you to grab the cart and stuff it into your NES for some solid fun!

A look back; Black Box Challange. Published by Hagen's Alley, and developed by Sly Dog Studio in 2017. As far as I am aware it is the only homebrew RPG to date. The plot is straightforward enough, collect all of the black box games by roaming your neighborhood and by buying and trading with the many npc's. This game is chocked full of witty humor and interesting battles with dreaded resellers and fanboys. The ability to actually play mini-game versions of the black box games you are collecting is probably the coolest bit in the game. Regardless, this game is definitely worth checking out if you haven't already.

A look back; North & South. Adapted from Les Tuniques Bleues, a french comic series. Published by Kemco and developed by Acclaim. This absolutely delightful platforming/strategy game is a must for any fan of the NES. You can play as either the north or south and you move your units across the country capturing states, trains and forts. This game is a lot of fun and even better when playing against a friend.

A look back; Arkista's Ring. This fantastic and often over looked adventure game was developed by NMK and produced by American Sammy in 1990. It plays sort of like Legend of Zelda with a splash of King's Knight and Hydlide. You play as Christine the elf and you adventure about with you trusty bow, seeking out some ancient magical relic. One of the better unknown titles on the console and a must play in my personal opinion.

I'm excited to announce that my son and I will be developing a game together. Not to worry, Loot-a-mania will continue to be my priority but this will definitely be something fun to do on the side with the kid during the summer! More to follow.

Also stay tuned for more infomation about the upcoming give-away. Trying to hammer out the details and best way to go about it.

A Look Back; Armed for Battle, this homebrew was developed by 1010 HOWE and produced by Infinite NES Lives in 2014. It is a strategy simulation-like game in the vein of Lords of the Realm. The premise is fairly simple, build up your base in preparation for the next enemy assault. It has fantastic depth for a NES title with a huge assortment of unit types, buildings and upgrades. It also boasts several game modes. This game is definitely worth checking out if you are a fan of the genre.

22/06/2021
