We finally have a new episode for you! This one was hard to edit but I'm really glad we had this conversation. In this one Heidi and I discuss my (Kelsey's) infertility journey so far and discuss fears leading up to their first round of IVF in Calgary.

We chat about how to hold space for folks when you don't have lived experience with what they're going through, how the journey has gone so far, and Lucy the frenchie gently snores throughout it all.

You matter. You matter. You matter.

Happy International Women’s Day to all of you wonderful folks who worry along with us. The oppression of all women/trans/non-binary/GNC folks across time has caused so much worry for so many people. The impact of that “worry” (re: systemic/systematic oppression leading to burnout, anxiety, stress, etc. etc. etc.) harms so many folks in so many ways that we truly feel we will never run out of topics to hold with and for people. Centre our most marginalized and prioritize the physical and psychological safety of trans/queer/NB/GNC folks. Uplift each other. Ground yourself in your power and align with your values. We will never stop fighting for equity and safety. You matter so, so much.

✨ The faces we make when a new episode releases ✨. Our episode about courage is now available anywhere you listen to podcasts. We chat about being worried that we don’t have enough courage for the things we must do. Sometimes it takes so much courage to just keep going. To try something new or to quit something that isn’t serving us. To live and hope and be vulnerable in a world full of unknown. Wherever you’re at with courage, you are not alone. You are so brave and your vulnerability is sacred.

Our upcoming new episode has us holding a common worry: will people judge me if I don’t have kids? Will people judge me if I do? Well, yes, they sure will. It’s likely that we’ll be judged no matter what we decide when it comes to shaping our family. We may always wonder what the “other side” would have looked like no matter what we choose. Sometimes we make a choice but we still don’t get what we want or desire. We chat about the choice to have kids and we reveal the choices we’ve made and the weird and whacky reactions we’ve gotten from making them.

Season 2 Episode 1: Holding Space, Holding Boundaries is finally here!

In this episode we help hold the worry that comes from trying to support someone we love when we don’t agree with or are worried about their actions or plans.

How do we hold space without judgement? How do we show someone we care without stepping over their boundaries? Is there a way to make someone see what they need to do? What happens when we feel burned out from supporting someone on something that they’re not ready to change?

Our newest episode is now live! In this episode we hold the worries: “How do I decide to go to therapy?”, “How do we deal with leaving therapy?” and “How do I make new friends?”.

We discuss the difficulty of embracing vulnerability, the barriers we face in feeling safe being vulnerable, and how therapy has both helped and hurt us in the past. We chat about the difficulty of finding enough energy to do the work of finding a therapist that works for us and discuss times when we decided to end a therapeutic relationship with a therapist.

In this episode we discuss the worries you hold around our health, the health and wellbeing of those we love, and feeling like a burden if we experience chronic pain or illness. Heidi discusses her experience witnessing her parents suffer and live through that suffering and Kelsey discusses her MS diagnosis and the reckoning that has been happening in the wake of the unknown.

Grief is like a tidal wave. Sometimes it rips its way up your legs and lands in your gut before you know its on the way.

Other times it swallows you slowly, while you wait and watch as you fall into the longing and the despair and the pain. But, we survive it. How do we do it? Love. Connection. Story-ing the people who have impacted us into our lives forever.

Phew. This one was a doozy. In our most vulnerable episode yet, we discuss your worries around grief through discussing our lived experiences of the deep grief that we each hold. We touch on memories, the surprising places we may find grief, grief myths, anticipatory grief, and grieving a loved one who dies by su***de. We cry with each other as we speak about our particular layers of grief and share things that we have rarely shared with others.

Episode 4 is here and we’re talking about your worries around change!

We discuss internal and external change and our various reactions to being thrust into the change we welcome and the change we didn't sign up for. Heidi discusses her excitement around change and Kelsey expresses how trauma has impacted her ability to embrace it. Heidi reads a poem by Mary Oliver and we both discuss the tools that help keep us grounded when we are going through change or transition.

Have you heard episode 2 on boundaries? Boundaries are hard. Resentment is harder. We know boundaries can be challenging, especially for those of us who gravitate toward people pleasing. You deserve to make space for your boundaries. It’s okay to honour your own capacity. This week I’ve been pondering the things I can say no to that will help conserve my energy during a particularly busy time. I’m also thinking about how I’m receiving other people’s boundaries, and getting curious about if there’s a connection between overstepping my own boundaries and having unrealistic expectations of others. We hope your boundary work is going well (we know it can be tough).

Episode two is now live! How do we create boundaries with family? What do boundaries look like with ourselves? We explore some of our own struggles with boundaries and try to provide some support for those struggling with vocalizing their capacity and limits.

The worries that grab us by the ankles deserve to be held in the light of day. So often we hold these worries alone, quietly riding their rollercoaster in our heads while we meander through our daily life. We get caught in the current of it all and sometimes we forget which way will get us back to the surface. We are SO grateful to everyone who has taken the time to listen to the first episode of No Worries. We look forward to continuing this conversation next Friday. If you haven’t listened yet, you can find us on Spotify or Apple Podcasts.

Our first episode is now live! Welcome to No Worries, a podcast for worried folks. In this introductory episode you hear from Heidi and Kelsey on who they are and what led them to podcast land. We also get vulnerable and speak on our own worries, the things that have changed us, and the things that we continue to work on as therapists and humans.

We see you. You who did a hard thing today. You who started a new job or set a new boundary. You who could just barely tolerate the injustice that you see so clearly. The one who, just for a second, was able to change the narrative in your head to be more self-compassionate. You who cried or sang alone in your car or lingered a little longer at the office to try to find your feet again. We see you. Your worries matter. You matter.

Your worries are beautiful, scary things. They might shape your inner landscape or they may tell you something about the values you hold closest to your heart. They may be irritating. Terrifying. Things you do your best to ignore. Things you can’t stop thinking about. As therapists we hold space for many folks and their worries and hard things. For the trauma and the grief and suffering. As humans we have worried. We worry about relationships and if we’re doing enough and if we’re too much because it is all so complicated and frankly, there’s a lot to worry about. We honour that for you. We honour the places your mind wanders.

We are so thankful to all of those who have shared their sacred worries with us and we can’t wait to share our first episode with you. The countdown is on! Details about how to listen to episode 1 are coming this weekend!
