Whoever owns the media controls the media. Without any rights or ownership you are just a subject in a photo. If you always do trade for photo shoots you will never have any rights or ownership. Paying for your media and or paying for professional photography services puts you in a position to negotiate as well as to receive specific rights and potentially even ownership if you know how to negotiate..
Models and photographers get upset when we educate Talent about this. Photographers don't like that we negotiate for our models and empower them to negotiate for ownership and or right. Models get upset because they don't want to put in the work or confront the photographer who's been taking advantage of them by never compensating them.
So instead they say nothing and continue to work for free. 10 years later no professional portfolio no ownership no rights. Just a bunch of memories of playing in a digital playground. You cannot do anything without rights and or ownership. It's a sad thing to watch.

We ask aspiring and professional models if they have a professional portfolio, 89% say no. Hundreds if not thousands of photos and other content but no professional portfolio.
Zero background or knowledge of industry principles and standards.
Not everyone is going to be an agency model and will need a professional portfolio printed. But no matter what type of model or brand you are, having a portfolio and resume professionally designed is not only a plus it is a principle to success.

Most online brands and/or Talent have no clue what these letters mean. If that is you it stands for, return on investment. One of the main priorities as a business and or brand you should be focused on. Most people focus on the activities alone but don't think about the return on the investment.
We equipped and empower our talent as well as teach anyone looking to learn more about business operation as well as brand management. You won't have a business without roi. You will not increase your revenue without understanding roi. You will never be successful without optimizing and maximizing your time and resources. (Modeling Philosophy) Connection with your eyes and your body language are also important.
Don't just stand there and think I'm pretty that's all. It's more than that. What is the theme, what is the mood, what is the projected or wanted outcome of the photographer and or shot. What are we selling and who are we selling it to. Its not all about you and your looks although your looks are a compliment to the outcome and project.

Our founder danced ballroom and hip hop professionally when he was younger; this is one of his peers/friends from Jacksonville Florida. He reached out to her and introduced her to professional Commercial, Fashion, Catalog modeling.

(Modeling/Styling Tip) Everyone remembers hair and makeup but don't forget accessories, personality and facial expressions. When doing commercial and or catalog work your job is to bring out the best in the product and or help highlight features.

Making it relatable for the viewer and or consumer. If you remove the makeup the personality the jewelry and the energy in this picture it will make the dress and subject completely different. Use accessories, personalities as well as facial expressions to enhance the outcome of the image and or product.

Creating vision boards and preparing before a photo shoot is vital. Some photo shoots may only take 45 minutes to 2 hours but the preparation before the session may take 4 to 6 hours. The length of preparation doesn't matter more than the quality. Choosing the right location, choosing the right themes and or colors, matching facial expressions and or moods with the theme and location. Working with the right people and collaborating with positive attitudes. /

Building a portfolio is not as hard as you think but it's also not easy if you have no experience. A good portfolio is around 10 to 20 images.
The ideal portfolio will be around 15 to 18 images. Anything over 25 images is too much and anything under 7 is too little. You should be in the range of 12 to 16 excellent images.
And not excellent according to your eyes because everything that you put out in your eyes will be great. Find 20 or 30 people to pick your top 12 to 16 images or have your manager and or agency handle this for you. Stop thinking you know how to develop something you have no experience developing. That self-sabotage......
A lot of models have thousands of photos but no professional portfolio. They don't have the rights to print nor assemble a project such as a portfolio. Make sure you have rights to post to social media and at least promotional use only.

If we gave you $500 for your modeling and/or talent brand/career to spend in order to produce income, what would you buy? If you don't invest into yourself you'll never make any money.
Companies and other people invest into people that invest in themselves.
The average talent and or model spends their money on personal items not items for their branding, marketing, advertising, development, management and or operation.
Brand and talent development is a process.
It's a process that most people want to avoid. It's a process that's extremely hard. There's no instant gratification which is why everyone walks away from it. We live in an instant gratification society. If you seek instant results you will always fail long-term because anything worth having takes time. The best food takes time to be prepped and cooked before it tastes good. This is a microwave generation wanting home style comfort food results which only happens through a process..
The average talent and or model has no clue about any of those things which is the reason why they spin around in circles and follow followers instead of becoming the true leader that every one of us is.

They killed this entire photoshoot. We helped develop Jenny Chen and put her boyfriend (at the time) Dennis to work on this photoshoot.
