I always appreciate the warm words that Dave Goren and the National Sports Media Association extend towards me, though I have to make clear it’s truly a collective effort for how we are so successful!

I’m thankful to be surrounded by amazing people who care about the industry enough to show up to meetings & use the NSMA to its fullest potential. I’m especially grateful for my executive team in Bella, Gianna, Ava, and Summer for the hard work they put in behind the scenes while balancing their workloads.

I encourage you all to watch Dr. Jubenville’s TEDx Talk about coaches having the largest impact on your life. Coaches are not limited to athletics / sport: Your parent, professor, and/or mentors are coaches if they shaped your life in a meaningful manner. Incredibly proud to announce that I will be a lead Play-by-Play Broadcaster for Alabama Adapted Athletics this year!

This will be my first time calling Paralympic sports (primarily wheelchair women’s and men’s basketball, with the opportunity for wheelchair tennis and para track and field to be added to our broadcast lineup later on!), and I have been working behind the scenes with our team to get systems in place, add on production members, and map out the season as we get closer to Tide Tipoff on October 13th.

I’m excited to start this new venture and continue/start working with Dr. Brent Hardin, Kellcie Temple, Alex Boothe, and many other colleagues within Adapted Athletics and the sports media program. 🏀🎾👟

Sadly, the Tennessee State Independent Athletic Association Board did not provide me with the zoom information for today’s meeting, violating Tennessee State Law for non-profit athletic associations. I was told to be prepared at 7pm for a conference call on the matter and it was cancelled. We’re still in the dark. 8-Man Extreme

Franklin Christian Academy placed this check in an envelope to the referee assigned for the game last night. He worked their home game the week prior. Per reports, Headmaster Hugh Harris brought him into the school at halftime & smiled giving him his actual check. 8-Man Extreme

Latest updated on this: Franklin Christian Academy Head Coach & Athletic Director confirm they had nothing to do with this, pointing the blame entirely to Hugh Harris. Additionally, the Tennessee State Independent Athletic Association Board is scheduled to have a meeting today, where this will likely come up. Will be present to report the results.

BREAKING Tennessee State Independent Athletic Association NEWS: Zion Christian Academy has been deemed eligible for the Division II playoffs and not Division I. 2 North and 2 South teams for those Semi-Finals, giving the losing teams an extra week of rest unless the league moves back the D2 playoffs. 8-Man Extreme

Friday Night’s “Battle of the Bell” between Lighthouse Christian School and Ezell-Harding Christian School has been reshceduled to Thursday, September 2nd. The plan is to still cover the rescheduled game, but 8-Man Extreme will kick off the 2021 8-Man Football season with Lighthouse hosting the Freedom Cowboys in the first-time matchup of the two teams on Friday night.

Per Maurice Patton, Zion Christian Academy is back in the Tennessee State Independent Athletic Association 8-Man football season after being in then out earlier this year. They will replace Riverside Christian Academy’s schedule and make their 8-Man Football debut on August 14th @ South Haven; waiting on confirmation for playoff eligibility from the TSIAA. 8-Man Extreme

Coach O’Neal and 2 RCA players will join the Freedom Cowboys for the season. This sets up the Division II playoffs for 1 team from the South and 2 North teams. 8-Man Extreme

We interrupt our regularly scheduled programming to remind everyone that this Sunday at 4 PM is the season debut of Extreme Talk! We will be recapping everything that has happened during the off-season!

Before the show, at 2 PM, we will be holding an orientation meeting at GracePointe Healthcare in Franklin. We are in need of help in several areas of sports media, including: Graphic Design, Video Editing, Website Coordinator, Writer (Previews/Recaps/Etc.), Score Reporters, and Production/Camera Operators.

All positions will include on-air time in some capacity, so whether you want to stay around high school football this season or get your feet wet in the world of sports media, jump on board!

Going into our 8th season of 8-man football coverage, we at 8-Man Extreme decided to send a list of guidelines to several schools we have broadcasted in the past. We sent these guidelines to the Headmaster, Athletic Director, and Head Coach at each school on June 11th.

After a ton of internal discussion and deliberation, I have decided that Fall 2021 will be my final season with 8-Man Extreme & the Tennessee State Independent Athletic Association. I will still be the “Voice of 8-Man Football” this fall, ending this chapter of my broadcasting career at the Gatlinburg All-American Games in December.

I am stepping away because it feels like the right time to do so. I will be graduating with my Master’s Degree from MTSU in Spring 2022 and plan to head straight to UTK for their PhD program in Fall 2022, which would not be an ideal situation for me to put myself in to travel extensively back and forth for games every weekend. Alongside a ton of other factors, 5 seasons feels like the right time for me to move on to better opportunities.

I cannot thank James Shannon enough for trusting me to lead the charge in multiple ways and get 8ME to where it is today. The many internal arguments, laughs, debates, and teachable moments have helped make me what I am today as a journalist, a broadcaster, and a better human. I am beyond grateful for your investment in me and my vision.

I am forever indebted to those that have made my job easier over the years and made it worth staying around for so long. Parents thanking me for giving their kids a spotlight, coaches who actually get why we do what we do, and the administrators who never gave us any problems along the way. You’ve made the experience so fulfilling and given me more motivation to pursue my dreams than I could never truly repay you for.

I look forward to saying my final goodbyes in-person and on-air starting in July. Here’s to the last ride! 🏈
