The education systems in many African countries are still heavily influenced by colonial legacies.
This has resulted in curricula prioritizing Western knowledge and perspectives over African ones and emphasizing rote memorization and standardized testing over critical thinking and creativity.
It perpetuates harmful stereotypes and biases.
We must work to decolonize African education systems and create curricula that are more relevant, inclusive, and empowering for African students.
