I still haven’t brought the weekend’s thrifting finds in so no photos of my FOTW. Here is something I bought the prevous weekend that I couldn’t remember when we were recording. It’s a green trivet made with abalone shells. It was $1.80 and I was drawn to the color.

Some of my tins and the tin plates I mentioned on the last episode. I didn’t dig out any trays but you can see the very top of a little red tray from a child’s tea set (on the bottom shelf). The red and orange tins on the right hold coins (pennies in one and dimes and nickels in the other).

I walked the dog really early and it was so hard to get out of bed a few hours later to thrift! It had been a while though so I pushed on through 😆

I went to 2 stores and found lots of stuff. .90 items were a theme. Two puzzles and a dog leash (not shown-one puzzle half off), the pins and button (the little enamel flower was half off), the new dogs in cones socks were half off, the half pint bottle, and the milk glass bud vase (half off), and each pillow case (half off).

I thought the half pint bottle was from a dairy company but it’s actually from a canning supply company-Conservo. In the early 1900s they made a contraption you could use to cook and can things at the same time.

I have a few more things to share but they’re still in the car. Anyone else out today?

It’s still cold in Chicago but it’s better than last weekend. I made 2 stops this morning and found a few things.

I dug through a shoebox of buttons and found an interesting mix. Lots of TPUSA (maybe someone had a change of heart and dumped them?) and other oddities (would love the story of handmade hot dads button😳). I bought one button that’s pictured here-any guesses?

It’s VERY cold (currently -1 with a windchill of -18) in Chicago this weekend so the only time I’m leaving the house is when Pixie needs to go out. I’m pretty sure she wouldn’t be going out if I wasn’t forcing her to😞

I’m reading, cooking, and doing some cleaning/organizing. I found a mini collection within my collection of pins and brooches-holiday pins from Hallmark. They were sold for most holidays and were only a few dollars originally. You can find tons on eBay, etc. I’ll be looking for more when I thrift again.

If it isn’t horrible outside where you live-did you thrift this weekend?

Eric was so good about posting from the last episode and I’ve just been slacking off!

The first 2 photos are from the children’s quilt. You can’t really see in these photos but it’s hand tied and has patterned borders around all the white embroidered part.

The last 2 photos are from the butterfly/moth quilt. Each creature is made from different fabric and these are 2 of my favorites. It’s also hand tied.

My non-FOTW bowl that just returned home after a year away. I don’t remember what I called the maker of it but I wasn’t even close😆😵‍💫 It’s 10 inches across-low and wide.

I have some other bowls (blue and cream rather than red and cream) from the same company.

In an attempt to be more mindful about clothing purchases I tracked everything I bought this year. The good news: the majority came from thrift stores! The bad news: I buy too much clothing!

From thrift stores I bought 23 skirts (and I already owned too many skirts), 12 pairs of jeans, 7 shirts, 3 dresses, and 2 sweaters. From regular stores I bought 6 dresses, 2 sleep shirts/pjs, 1 sweatshirt, and 1 pair of pants.

I did end up donating some of the clothing I thrifted because it didn’t fit very well or I decided I didn’t care for it enough to keep it.😕

Is there something you always buy when you see it? I have lots of things like that and you’ve probably heard me go on about most them in various episodes. A small thing I always buy is thread on wooden spools but it’s gotten out of hand😝 I did a little weeding to get it down to a more reasonable supply. I mean how much thread does one person use?

I had the day off so I started with a little thrifting. My favorite find was this .90 dishtowel-it’s in lovely shape and the colors are so nice. I also found 3 similarly shaped dishes for all my entertaining 😆 I also got a 2 tiered tidbit/cookie tray that goes with the white Christmas number on the left but it’s still in the car. Those were $2.50-$3.40 each. The red flocked deer ornaments were from a 3 for $1 ornament bin. I don’t mean to buy more Christmas pins but the prices have been so good (.90 to $1.40).

A new Salvation Army opened in a former Gordon Food Supply in Evanston (suburb just north of Chicago). They had a small one years ago but it was torn down to make way for condos.

Despite the .97 unwrapped toilet paper☹️ it was a decent store. The housewares section was large and though I didn’t buy anything from it there were good and reasonably priced items. I did buy a skirt and a dress. I used a dressing room in a thrift for the first time. I’ve tried things on over my clothing but never used an actual dressing room. I’m glad I did since 2 things I was thinking about buying were in lovely condition but fit oddly (probably why they ended up there!).

Here are the Christmas items that were in my car. I found 4 napkins with little hand embroidered Christmas trees on them (.40 each). Santa and Mrs Claus are worn but were only $1.50. Two more pins I didn’t need but they were cute and only $1.50 each (the larger one is a functioning bell).

I did a little thrifting this morning. The silver mesh bag was a silly purchase (it’s not like I go clubning 😂) but I’ve always loved purses like this and it was only $2.95.

The store where I found the .90 Van Briggle vase had another one marked .90 but green tags were 50% so it was .45! It was really buried in the back of the shelf near where I found the other one so it might have been there 2 weeks ago.

I found a couple Christmas items but forgot them in the car so they’ll have to wait.

Anyone else finding anything interesting?
