India has reported its fifth consecutive day of over 10,000 new COVID-19 cases, with 10,112 new infections reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday.

While this represents a slight decrease from the 12,193 cases reported on April 22, it is still part of an upward trend in the number of cases. India saw 11,692 new cases on April 21, 12,591 on April 20, 10,542 on April 19, 7,633 on April 18, and 9,111 on April 17.

The country's active cases have increased to 67,806, up from 67,556 the previous day, according to the Union Health Ministry. In the last 24 hours, a total of 1,43,899 tests have been conducted, the health ministry reported.

In response to the surge in COVID-19 cases across India, Dr PK Mishra, the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, chaired a high-level meeting on Wednesday to evaluate the situation.

*Heatwave in Telangana*

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), several districts in the state are likely to witness heatwave conditions for the next few days.

The temperature in the state capital, Hyderabad, has been hovering around 40-42 degrees Celsius, which is 5-6 degrees above normal. Similarly, in other districts, including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Khammam, the mercury has been hovering around 42-44 degrees Celsius, which is 4-5 degrees above normal.

The IMD has issued a warning for heatwave conditions in several districts of Telangana, including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, and Khammam. The IMD has predicted that the maximum temperature in these districts is likely to touch 45 degrees Celsius, which is extremely high and can be dangerous to health.

In the wake of the heatwave, the Telangana government has issued several advisories to the public to take necessary precautions. The government has advised people to stay indoors during the peak heat hours, between 11 am and 4 pm, and to avoid going out unless necessary.
The government has also advised people to wear light-colored and loose-fitting clothes, drink plenty of water, and avoid alcohol and caffeinated beverages.

The heatwave is a result of several weather factors, including high pressure over the Arabian Sea and a trough of low pressure over the Bay of Bengal. These weather patterns have led to hot and dry winds blowing over Telangana, causing the temperature to rise rapidly.

The heatwave is not just confined to Telangana, but other parts of India are also facing similar conditions. According to the IMD, several states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh, are likely to witness heatwave conditions in the coming days.

Senior IPS officer Anjani Kumar who served in various top positions in Telangana and united Andhra Pradesh takes over the mantle from the outgoing director general of police M. Mahender Reddy. The BRS-led Chandrashekar Rao government has appointed Anjani Kumar as the head of the Telangana police.

Omicron BF-7 entered in India.

The Dangerous Corona Omicron BF-7 variant has entered India.
Officials recently identified the BF-7 variant in Vadodara, Gujarat.
Due to this, the central government has declared high alert in all airports. The BF-7 variant is the cause of the Chinese Corona recent outbreak. The center has announced that till now 2 cases of BF-7 variant have been registered in Gujarat and 1 in Odisha. The authorities have moved the three along with close contacts to them to isolation.

Health Ministry and INSACOG are keeping a sharp watch on the situation.

National Commission for Protection of Child Rights has on Friday summoned edtech firm BYJU's CEO, Byju Raveendran, to appear in person before the Commission over alleged malpractice of hard selling and mis-selling of its courses for students.

The summons come days after the child rights body took cognizance of a media report alleging the ed-tech company is pushing households to take heavy debts and exploiting students.

Observing that BYJU's is indulging in malpractices to lure parents and children to enter into loan-based agreements, thereby exploiting them, Byju Raveendran has been asked to appear in person before the NCPCR on December 23.

We came to know how Byju's buying phone numbers of children & their parents, rigorously following them & threatening them that their future will be ruined. They're targeting first-generation learners. We'll initiate action & if need be will make report & write to govt:NCPCR Chief

How is digital rupee different from UPI?

RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das recently explained the difference between India's central bank digital currency called e-rupee and UPI. While UPI transactions take place through banks, e-rupee will move from one person's wallet to the other's, Das said. Further, just like cash transactions, in case of digital rupee, a third party cannot find out to whom the money has been transferred.

Central Election Commission in an official letter to CM KCR approving the name of Telangana Rashtra Samiti as "Bharat Rashtra Samiti".

At the special muhurat 1.20 pm on Friday, December 9, the party leader and CM KCR decided that the "Bharat Rashtra Samiti" formation program should be held and the official programs should be started.

On this occasion, tomorrow at 1.20 pm in Telangana Bhavan, he will sign the reply to the official letter received and officially send it to the Election Commission.
Later, CM KCR will unveil the BRS flag. There will be a flag-off ceremony.

CM KCR will lay foundation stone for the Hyderabad Airport Express Metro project on the 9th of December. This project starting at Mindspace junction Raidurg Metro station to Shamshabad Airport will be 31km corridor costing about Rs 6250 cr.

This AirPort Express Metro is a Telangana State Govt funded project & will be completed in 3 years.

The Muhurat for the announcement of the National Party has been finalized: CM KCR

CM KCR's exercise on forming a national party has reached its final stage. KCR met with ministers and party district presidents at Pragati Bhavan on Sunday and took many important decisions.
KCR will announce National Party on the occasion of Dussehra at 1:19 PM on 5th of October.
A meeting of TRS MLAs, MPs, MLCs and state working committee will be held on the same day. A wide-scale meeting of TRS will take a resolution on the change into a national party.

Party sources said that KCR has decided to hold a public meeting in Delhi on December 9.

10 Years Old Licypriya Kangujam attended the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Licypriya Kangujam is a child environmental activist from India. She is one of the youngest climate activists globally and has addressed world leaders at the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2019 (COP25) in Madrid, Spain asking them to take immediate climate action.

10 years old Indian Climate Activist Licypriya Kangujam in New York attended the high level events of the UN Transforming Education Summit during the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly on the invitation of the UN Secretary General. She is representing India and the voice of millions of children of the world.

Licypriya is a student of Grade 5 at Ryan International School and recently appointed as the new special envoy of the President of Timor Leste (East Timor). She is accompanied by her mother.
She addressed the media that, “Island Countries like Timor Leste are responsible for less than 0.0% of the global carbon emissions but they are the biggest victim of the global climate crisis. Many villages are now sinking due to rising sea levels. We deserve climate justice and the rich countries must pay for the loss and damage to the developing countries. There will be no climate justice without climate finance”.

“And instead of spending billions of dollars in wars, if we spend it on fighting climate change, ending poverty and giving education then what a wonderful place this earth would be!”, she added.
Licypriya thanked the United States Embassy in New Delhi for issuing her visa in a record time of one day to attend the general assembly and also initially she was likely to cancel the event due to expiry of her passport validity. Later the Ministry of External Affairs intervened and issued her new passport within a few days.

She highlighted that India is facing lots of environmental issues like floods, droughts, heat waves, cyclones, locusts, air pollution, etc at the same time. These are all the impacts of climate change. Thousands of innocent children lost their lives and their parents due to high air pollution levels and climate crisis.
